We visited this restaurant on a scorchingly hot evening in July. We had a good table, staff were professional and helpful, food good but not exciting. But....... As the room was stuffy, hot and with no fresh air we asked if it was possible to open the door to let in some cooler air from the street outside. This was willingly done and our relief was immediate. After we had finished our main course the door was closed.I couldn't believe it on such a hot night. Apparently 2 diners, both visitors to this country, had complained of being cold..............we left without desserts or coffee . As there were 4 of us I do wonder why a table of 2 took preference. We shan't visit again.

A couple of friends had lent us their narrowboat for a week to do a return trip Lincoln to Boston on the River Witham - we had a great trip and booked a meal at the Jews House restaurant as a thank you to them. We wanted something special and certainly found it here. Perfect food - I was offered an extra veggie option not on the menu - for me it was the best veggie meal ever along with the delicious main course exploding with flavour.. The other couple had the lamb and raved about it - my husband had the fillet of sea reared trout - he is a fisherman and had never seen sea trout described as "sea reared" - he was assured it was not farmed trout but it was not made clear on enquiring how the trout was reared . He found it disappointing and wished he had had the lamb but thoroughly enjoyed everything else- especially the dessert. The service was impeccable but subtle- I highly recommend the Jews House restaurant.

Having eaten at some fantastic restaurants around the world, I was pleasantly surprised to fine this little gem of a restaurant in Lincoln.

While it definitely does not measure up to a Michelin start restaurants ( as some reviewers commented) it was a memorable experience. The best part of the experience must be the venue. It is a small, cozy and charming restaurant located an 11th century building. Very intimate but not cramped. The service was friendly and attentive. The food was very good. In my opinion the price was also very reasonable. We had a three course al carte meal with a bottle of wine and came up to GBP 85.

Although I was not blown away by this restaurant, it is not fair to compare it to some world renown restaurants I have been to. But when you do compare it to other similar venues, it is a charming and truly memorable little restaurant that serves good food with a friendly service.

Seeing the isnide of an 11th century building is the best part of your visit. The menu is perfectly fine, but nothing special.
