Such a warm and friendly welcome at this hotel, you don't get that at some other well known hotels I could think of!! lovely staff.
We usually stay at well known big chain hotels, but so pleased we didn't this time, it was such a lovely atmosphere and the room we stayed in was just as good, it was comfortable, nicely decorated, with fluffy pillows and comfy bed. Its located it a really lovely part of Lincoln, take a walk down the' large old trees' lined road and look at the beautiful grand old houses and enjoy the views, very quite at night time due to the location, so that plus a comfy bed equals a good nights sleep.
You can also enjoy a lovely view over Lincoln, whilst eating (a delicious, well cooked) breakfast in the morning in the conservatory, and take a stroll round the garden whilst your eggs are being cooked.
Great location if you want to explore the Castle and Cathedral area, its just a short walk away and it's a pleasant walk, you do have to cross a very busy main road, but we didn't encounter any problems with this.
Would we stay again? without a doubt we would.....and we will !!

I have stayed here on a few occasions over the past few years for business and I loved coming back again and again.
The staff are welcoming, friendly and give a homely feel to the guest house.
They welcomed my dog Guinness every time and even offered to take him for a stroll should I be out at meetings.
Food was amazing. I usually had the steak and chips and it was always perfect. Cooked breakfast was fresh and tasty. Ready to set you up for a days work or exploring.
Rooms as wonderful. Big four poster beds with thick plushy quilts.
Even the single rooms are comfortable and have en suits and all you need.
Great location and great views.
Is glorious this time of year.
Would definitely recommend.

Hillcrest has a great location - handy for the castle district and cathedral, which you can reach without having to climb Lincoln's steep hills. The welcome is warm and friendly and, while there's no restaurant service, delicious snacks are available in the bar. The road is not busy so the hotel offers a peaceful night's sleep, especially if you are lucky enough to have a room overlooking the arboretum. The cooked breakfast is from the hand of an expert.

My partner and I recently stayed at the Hillcrest. Our spacious room was on the top floor and we had a lovely view overlooking the arboretum. The bed was very comfy but the room itself was very warm during the night and the quilt was extremely heavy and thick and we were too warm with it on and cold without it so we didn't sleep too well! Its a pity there wasn't a lighter quilt or perhaps a sheet available but there were just extra pillows and a blanket in the wardrobe. The bathroom was spacious, modern and clean. The shower wasn't very powerful and actually stopped altogether during my morning shower. Also the mirror in the bathroom was slightly too high for me to see properly, I'm 5'5", although there was an excellent full length mirror in the bedroom. The breakfast room is nicely decorated although if it's a warm day sitting in the conservatory can be too much. The cooked breakfast was excellent and there were a few different choices. However the breakfast was let down by the choice of 3 'cheap' cereals and the only fresh fruit were apples and bananas. The staff were attentive and there was plenty of refills for both toast and tea/coffee.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back of the hotel overlooking the arboretum.

Stayed for 4 nights while pursuing those elusive ancestors in Lincolnshire. We felt welcome from the moment we arrived. The room was comfortable, king double bed with room to walk around it and seating for us both, but a small shower that delivers a low volume of water. The view (from Room 11) over the Arboretum is delightful, and makes waking a pleasant process. If we return to Lincoln (a fascinating city in itself) this is where we'd choose to stay.
We missed being able to dine in, but there are plenty of good eateries within walking distance (as long as you can handle the odd hill - Lincoln has steep bits, in which it glories) and it made sure we got a bit of exercise, which doesn't always happen when you're closeted in the Archives Centre all day!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the Arboretum - it beats looking out on the street!

Stayed for just one night. Is located on a quite street with plenty of parking. Reception is not by the front so have to buzz to be let in then receptionist brings your keys. Stayed in room 1 which was good size but bathroom was bit basic looking with small shower. We didn't have a view but clearly some rooms will have great one across Lincoln. Breakfast is in a bright conservatory area. Location is handy for the Cathedral quarter with not too much of a hill to climb.

Room Tip: As for one with a view if possible.

Stayed as part of a University Reunion which landed in Lincoln this year.

Comfortable and clean room with a stunning view.

Good location for the Cathedral.

Good breakfast.

Interesting Reception. As Hillcrest is on the side of a hill the Reception, Bar and Restaurant are one floor down from the entrance.

If we come back to Lincoln we shall definitely consider staying here again
