“Best place to stay”
Reviewed October 23, 2010

The former Marriot is now Holiday Inn and kept all standards. Excellent location, nice rooms, all non smoking, helpful staff, excellent breakfast, nice bar, good parking. Located in the city center with lots of places to go. No free Internet. Stayed here several times and will do again. Do not confuse with Holiday Inn Express, 500 mtr away.

Need to be in Lincoln for business meetings. I found the staff very friendly and helpful and knowledgable regarding the city as they were able to advise me on directions to my appointments. After a great nights sleep the breakfast was superb a great way to start the day. I will revist this city and stay at this hotel for a weekend city break.

The hotel was clean, staff are friendly, and the food is of good quality, the breakfast buffet is really good.
the location is very good with some nice views of the waterfront if your staying on that side, there are plenty of good restaurants in close proximity, and the city centre is only a 5 minute walk away

I stayed for 4 nights at the end of August 2010. The hotel has great views in some of the rooms over the marina. The marina has a number of chain restaurants which are good. The main shpping area is only 5 minutes away as is the train station. The top of the hill, where the castle and cathedral are situated, has the best restaurants and bars. Also, the views from the top of the hill over Lincoln are lovely. This hotel is priced the same as the Holiday Inn Express and I'd personally stay in the Express, which is newer and smarter, albeit in a less glamourous location. The advantage this has over the Express is that it has a gym and room service.

Stayed here overnight as part of my Partner's Birthday Celebration. Excellent location on the waterfront, The University, Train Line and Marina all straight across from our 4th floor room, facing the river Witham.
Just a stroll down the wharf, past some typical chain restaurants (Chimmichanga, ASK, Prezzo) and you are on the High Street with old Lincoln Architecture all around, The Castle and Magnificent Cathedral up the hill, easily accessible by the 'Walk and Ride' bus service.
The Hotel's check-in was courteous, efficient and problem-free, the room, as previous reviewers have said, perfectly adequate. Across the wharf is the highlight of the area, The Barge Restaurant.
Breakfast was typical Holiday Inn Fayre, the hotel appeared quiet - good sound-proofing in the room - until we got to the restaurant! Everyone had taken the advice in the elevator, not to aim for the busy period between 9 and 10 am, so the busy period was 8.30 am!

Would definately stay here again, probably for longer, there is so much to explore in the area.

Stayed for 3 nights during weekdays at the hotel. The exterior appearance on arrivng is very good, being clean looking and new. This hotel is located on the newly developed Brayford Wharf which is full of cafes, bars and restaurants so if you don't wish to have a evening meal at the hotel there are plenty of other options. Checking in was very efficient and the rooms were ready for us. The rooms themselves are very spacious and the ones we had looked out over the wharf which was very pleasant. I believe the rooms at the back look towards the cathedral. The restaurant wasn't is use in the evening which was a bit dissapointing as we were then told that we had to eat in the bar. This is all very well but they had two big screen televisions showing sky sports which while might appeal to some it didn't appeal to me while I am trying to have a quiet dinner. My advice to them is to turn off the televisions in the evening if the guests are eating in the bar. The menu appeared to be just bar style food like fish and chips and burger and chips however the quality of these foods was very good indeed in fact in was one of the best burgers I had ever eaten. Other foods like Sea Bass were also available and was excellent. The Wharf is very noisy at night but the rooms had triple glazing and kept most of it out. The beds were very comfortable and we all had a good nights sleep every night. The only real thing that let the hotel down was the breakfasts which were pretty poor. It was a buffet style service but the eggs and bacon were all dried out and the sausages were cheap and disgusting. All in all though a very good stay indeed.

I stayed at this hotel with my husband & 7 week old baby. My 90 year old gradfather was in an ajoining room & my disabled cousin on the other side.
The hotel didnt have disabled rooms available due to our late booking but the rooms were easily accesible & neither my Grandad or cousin had any problems.
Good, clean rooms, a little tired but fine.
Breakfast was great, good selection kept buffet topped up.
Check in & all staff were lovely.
Location - fantastic. I'd recommend the Royal William pub at the end of the marina for a meal or a nice place to drink.
Negatives - they charged for Wi-Fi!
