“Nice but expensive”
Reviewed December 1, 2012

I think the tickets, especially in winter should be no more then £3.00 per person seeing as the gardens are not in bloom.

Can't even take pictures of the lovely christmas tree or decorations in the hall.

Farm shop nice and obviously very popular.

“Nice place to eat”
Reviewed November 20, 2012

Haven't visited the house or gardens but have been to the farm shop and cafeteria several times. Farm shop has loads to offer but you need a healthy bank balance to shop here every week but as a treat it's lovely.

Food in the cafeteria is just ok, not a lot on offer and what there is, is overpriced. The area itself is a bit like a motorway cafe area as one previous reviewer has mentioned and it might better in the restaurant which sadly we haven't tried.

It's lovely at Christmas because they sell no end of fabulous trees and things to go on them but it's very busy so go early.

“lady who loves to shop and drink tea”
Reviewed November 18, 2012

The hall is very beautiful and interesting and worth a visit. The gardens are delightful. The cafe and restaurant serve fabulous food and drinks and there is always a lovely ambience. The staff are excellent! The farm shop sells superb food and the new furniture shop is very chic.

“Average cafe”
Reviewed October 27, 2012

Self service cafe very average. Lots of staff hanging around. A little like a motorway service station. Little choice for lunch in the self service area and very average.

We are sorry that you found little choice at Doddington for lunch. Our café menu includes Doddington home-made soup, baguettes, coleslaw, hot home made pasties, quiche, jacket potatoes, ploughman’s, fishcakes, fish & chips, smoked chipolatas, crisps, plum loaf, tea cakes, delicious Doddington cakes & scones- all freshly prepared, made in-house and competitively priced.
Due to our popularity and increased footfall, orders are taken at the counter and our staff bring out the food when it has been cooked. This results in a smoother and quicker service for our customers. For those who want a more leisurely dining experience, we also offer a full waitress service in our al la carte restaurant which has a wide menu showcasing Doddington game, our own Kitchen Garden and the best of the county's produce.
The reviewer obviously goes to nicer motorway service stations than those I have experienced - I have never seen one with a beautiful display of freshly baked cakes and decorated with vintage watering cans, garden baskets and trugs, flower pots, seed posters and fresh flowers!
