This cottage is immaculate, in an amazing location and the photos do not do it justice. - the outside space is bigger than it appears and contains a bbq. The hosts cannot do enough for you, it is spotless, the garage in uphill Lincoln invaluable and the little touches - toiletries and food make all the difference. I was brought up in the area and want to keep this gem a secret!! BUT it is only fair to the wonderful hosts to share (boo!!)
Right from the start, Charles was helpful and accommodating - he even walked up Steep Hill to meet us and then drove round to the cottage with us so we didn't get lost! He then gave us a tour of the cottage before leaving us to enjoy our 3 night break.
The cottage is beautifully well appointed - very tastefully done. We especially enjoyed the walled garden and the Jacuzzi bath. Had we have been staying longer, we surely would have made use of the barbeque and the very comprehensive CD library.
The cottage is situated halfway up Steep Hill - not for the faint hearted, but right at the heart of Lincoln life, perfect for us.
There is lot's to recommend this lovely little gem and it's owner and we will most certainly return as there is so much more to see and do in lovely Lincoln.
I can't really say anything new! It's all been said before. All the other reviews are spot on. Well Cottage is home from home, everything you could possible need. Immaculately clean, lovely outside area. Charles the owner, went well above and beyond for us, communication was 100%, very thoughtful in accomodating our 2 year old grandaughter, and made us feel extemely welcome. He greeted us at the cottage and then took us to the garage, which was a bonus as we had 2 cars so one went to Flaxengate car park, very reasonable apprx. £7.20 for 24 hours. The cottage is in a lane just off Steep Hill and yes, it is extremely steep! The location is fantastic for shops, places to eat and pubs. We went to the Straight and Narrow which had a vast selection of beers and ales and very friendly bar staff who knew their stuff when recommending beers. The wig and Mitre breakfast was brilliant - the small cooked breakfast is huge!! Booked a table at Bells Tea Room for tea and cake, well worth doing during busy periods. Looking forward to going back.
This superb cottage is in the perfect location, on steep hill. We live in Lincolnshire and visit Lincoln a lot so we decided to spend most of our time at the cottage which was both homely and luxurious. You have everything you could possibly want, and more. The owners are so accommodating and welcoming. Thank you for everything Charles and Gillian, the whole experience was exceptional and exactly what we needed!
This wonderfully equipped and comfortable cottage is just a stone's throw away from the tourist attractions of Lincoln. The use of a lock-up garage meant that we could travel by car but then explore Lincoln on foot and not have to worry about expensive car parking. This led to a very relaxed short break. Charles, the owner, made us feel very welcome and all the little touches made our stay extra special - thank you, we didn't want to leave!
Great location off the middle of The Steep (with garage parking) so you are in the middle of the beautiful Cathedral Quarter and also close to the top of The High Street and shops. There are many very good restaurants and cafes for all your food and coffee requirements in the near vicinity.
Very well appointed and equipped cottage with a lovely outside area for a relaxing drink in the sun or even a BBQ (BBQ and Chiminea supplied). Very well equipped, spacious kitchen/dining area and a jacuzzi and shower in the bathroom. Comfortable lounge and bedrooms, decorated to a high standard throughout. Tip top hosts Charles and Gillian are very friendly and can supply you with all the local information you may require. Perfect spot for weekend and a long stay - we both absolutely loved it and recommend it without hesitation.
We were impressed with the communication from Charles right from when we first enquired about the property, through to receiving detailed instructions and maps before arriving. Charles greeted us and explained how everything worked which was very useful. It was a very comfortable, centrally located cottage with plenty of room for us all - my husband and I and our daughter and her husband. The property has a lovely private, courtyard garden with heaters although it was a little too cold for us to use this - I imagine it would be a wonderful feature when the weather is warmer! The use of a private garage was very helpful. Everything was provided for our comfort - quality bedding, relaxing sofas, useful storage space. We would most certainly return if we were visiting Lincoln again.
