I always have liked this chain after discovering the one in the O2 a few years ago. I've been to this one a few times, including for the family birthdays. The last time the food was OK, I like the different and unusual. I had my favourite, xinxin, apparently it's Pele's favourite. I've no idea if he would approve of this version, but mine was great. Service was OK and the music was a bit dodgy, but I do like this place.

We went to this restaurant at about 9.30pm on a Saturday night after a long day worth of driving. The menu seemed appetising and the atmosphere seemed lively (even though we were tired and could do with some quiet time).

We had two courses, for starters the calamares and the mexican poppadoms. The calamares seemed old and was not fresh and the mexican poppadoms, although nice could have done with some sour cream as part of the dips. The mains we had were the burrito and the churassco fiasca which is essentially a kebab with salad and casava chips. The churassco was lovely, finely cooked with some taste and the casava chips (if you like that kind of thing) was cooked through which is hard to do. The burrito on the other hand was tasteless. The chicken had very little flavour and the rice was really really bland.

We did complain and the manager did come over and apologise, there was no discount given either considering this was our first time to Las Iguanas.

The fact the manager came over to apologise and explain a reason why the food was bad is a compliment to him. The service we received was very good, attentive and friendly. I can not fault that at all.

The atmosphere although lively probably wasn't what we needed that day. The venue is a city centre location so if you are looking for a quiet meal and a drink, this isn't the place. If you are looking to move on out after a meal, then this would be a good place to eat.

Overall, we were not impressed by the food which is what makes us go back to places. Apparently we may get some discount tokens in the post, if so we may give it another go, otherwise probably not.

This is the second time my wife and I have used Las Iguanas for an evening meal prior to going on to another venue, (in this case the theatre), and once again it provided us with amazing value for money coupled with excellent service. Our arrival time, 18:10 on a Wednesday, meant that we could still choose from the daytime menu, as a result of which our bill, including drinks, came to £26.50. Our server, Laurie, advised us on how to maximise the availability of the lower prices on the daytime menu for the same food and drinks choices we'd made from the main menu.
The restaurant is very conveniently positioned in Leicester city centre. It can get very busy, and noisy, during peak periods, but this is an endorsement of how good a place to eat Las Iguanas is.
