As a family we have been going there for 25 years, we have been loyal for a long time and spent lots of money in there and recommended others too. Tonight we went there and booked for 7 people unfortunately 2 dropped out at the last minute. The manager who we have known for a long time came to out table at the end of our meal and rudely told us that he could have booked another two people in place of those who dropped out, and that he could have had 8 other people on our table stating that he could have replaced us with a bigger group, and as it's New Year's Eve he had turned many people away due to being booked up. These are not things you say to a customer who is about to hand over £110 for a mediocre dinner. As we were in the restaurant for 3 hours in total there were plenty of empty tables throughout the night so I don't know why he was moaning at us.
As for the service, it was awful, slow, un-informative, unfriendly and very poor in general. j20 drinks were out of date, coke and lemonade were flat and when replaced they were replaced by ones equally as flat. It took 90 minutes to receive our starters and the restaurant was only half full. The dinner portions have decreased and the it seems as though the chef has changed as the food was nowhere near as tasty as previous visits.
Then the rude comment really topped it off which to me showed that they are just money grabbers. It pains us to say it but this restaurant is changing and going downhill fast. For us 25 years of loyalty is over and we will be taking our money to another restaurant from now on
