Granddaughter is a student at the University in Leicester and 9 of us stayed here for two nights to join in the celebrations..
The hotel was very convenient to the city. A flat 10 min walk into centre.
Clean and comfortable-and our room overlooked the cannel which had lots of students rowing up and down.
Very basic breakfast but it was adequate. We would stay there again.

Room Tip: No pool or gym... Right next door to Leicester City's ground so perfect for football fans.Rooms on the back nicer view.

Have just returned from staying 2 nights at this hotel.
I have a few pros and cons!
the Pro's:
It was SPOTLESSLY clean (both the rooms and communal areas) and I've stayed in other not so budget hotels that haven 't been.
Staff are lovely, friendly, efficient.
Its in a good area for transport/walikng to the city centre.
I paid £91 for two nights' B&B so excellent value.
Cons:
Well. its not really a con but the location of the hotel is in a bit of a 'strange' place-in the middle of an industrial estate and an electricity pylon forest, so if you're expecting to wake up and sit out in the gardens to enjoy the sunshine then book somewhere else. However, if like us, you just want somewhere to rest your weary head after a hard days shopping/sightseeing then this place is ideal. Around a 5 minute drive to the city centre or 2 minute walk to the main road for the buses.
The other gripe is one that a previous reviewer commented on-there is a long mirror in the room for you to do hair/make up etc but the nearest electricity socket is the other side of the hanging space so you cant use dryer, straighteners etc as they wont reach. However, we borrowed a very short extension lead the reception were happy to lend.
Breakfast was good, cereals, jams, toast, fruit, scrambled eggs, beans and all help yourself.
Yes bacon would be nicer but for the money you cant really complain.
I didnt try the adjoining restaurant as had other plans.
There was a function on(wedding) whilst we were there but we didnt get disturbed at all by noise.
This was our 6th visit to this hotel and have always found it more than adequate for our needs, yes if you want egyptian cotton sheets and posh soap go somewhere else but otherwise like I said, this hotel represents excellent value for money.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on the 'canal' side, its quieter and the sound of quacking ducks is preferable to the traffic from the road!

I had a night out in Leicester where I wanted to stay over as I was going to drink and therefore could not drive.
The Holiday Inn Express was in the City centre, great value for B&B and very clean with great bedrooms and even better showers !!!
For a no frills good value for money I would recommend HI-E every time.

Room Tip: All rooms are the same whther double or twin.

The room and the breakfast was as you would expect from HI Express. The meal however in the Restaurant next door was very poor. Burnt offerings and microwaved curry. Will look at other alternatives next time I am in Leicester.

Room Tip: Go for the disabled rooms as they are nearer the lifts!

We payed £59 for B&B including parking a night, very good price for a city hotel, very pleasantly surprised with everything about the hotel, will be back for next season too. We were in Leicester to watch rugby and the position was ideal.
The room was well equipped, all we needed for a couple for nights stay, tea and coffee, hair dryer and a very powerful shower. Our room overlooked the next door football stadium and was very quiet, a good nights sleep was had on both nights. The breakfast was self service and had juices, cereals, pasties, yoghurt and 3 hot dishes, can get very busy though at peak times and there are not many tables.
The walk to the ground took about 10 mins and then it is only another 10 into the heart of town, there are plenty of bars and places to eat and all sorts of cuisine catered for.
