I wouldn't really recommend staying here, it just wasn't pleasant at all. Myself and two colleagues were booked in for three nights, and all of us were rather shellshocked at the end of it.
We were checking in as part of a large pre-booked conference group, so check in went as smoothly as could be expected, but on getting to my room, I opened the toilet to find 3 cigarette butts floating in the bowl. Considering this was a non-smoking hotel and the room should have been cleaned before my arrival, i was a bit shocked, but just accepted this and flushed them away. The room (and my friends' rooms) smelt rather strongly of cigarettes, and there were lots of stains on the carpet and cigarette burns on the bedspreads. Considering that the smoking ban came into force 4 months earlier, i'd have hoped the smell would have dissipated since then and they might have sorted out the bedding.
Apart from this, the room was fairly clean and adequate. There was a crack in the shower head that meant i got water sprayed in my eyes every time i turned on the shower, but it wasn't too much of a problem.
On the second day though i lifted the bathroom basin plug to wash away the water, and found the most disgusting mess of cigarette butts stuck down there, and a kind of green oozey paste. It smelt absolutely foul, the sort of smell that gets in your throat and makes you gag. Again, I thought if the bathroom was cleaned adequately they should have noticed this and unblocked it.
We ate at the hotel once, and it wasn't very nice, none of my friends could finish our meals, and the only vegetarian option on the menu was "off" that day, so there wouldn't have been any provision for vegetarians. It was a bit of a disappointment really.
Also, there was a problem with noise. My friends had rooms on different floors, on each side of the hotel, and each of them complained about being kept up at night by building works and railway announcements.
I certainly wouldn't stay there again, and wouldn't recommend it for more than one night.
