“Food, exceptional, ambiance, manic, decor, hideous.... the VERY BEST Italian cuisine”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

Ignore the decor, the ambiance is only enhanced by a sense of manic unpredictability but when you eat, the food is sublime... I have never tasted a medium rare fillet steak anywhere that is as good as here and it's consistent, had a few and always superb.
On a Saturday evening it is heaving and noisy and bustling and hot but, you don't care.... the place is always busy, you need to book, certainly for the weekend but it's well worth it, just don't tell too many people!

“No Sign ...”
Reviewed August 27, 2012

You don't see it advertised ... it doesn't even have a sign??? If you didn't know better you could walk right past and miss the best little Italian restaurant in town! It's not flash and sometimes when it's busy it can be a little crazy but hey, they're Italian! ...Just smile and go with the flow "When in Rome etc ..."
The fillet steaks are great and they have the best selection of fresh fish anywhere! I went last Friday and the blackboard listed Salmon, Sea Bass, Halibut, Monk Fish, Dover Sole plus mussels, scallops and king prawns! I had the Bass - a whole Bass mind, and my partner the Fillet Roberto. Both dishes were brilliant and we shared a bowl of fries and a simple salad.
If you go don't tell anyone, let's just keep it a secret!

“Best Italian food in Leicester”
Reviewed August 18, 2012

We have been going to the Casa Romana for 25years! The food has always been consistently good and the most authentic Italian food we have ever had outside Italy. The wines are amazing (the reds being our favourite) which Francesco chooses at source with great love and attention. Whatever dish you choose it is always well cooked and delicious. There is something very special about this place that keeps us coming back again and again and again.

“An all round superb evening”
Reviewed August 4, 2012

Me and my wife visited Case Romana to celebrate our first wedding anniversary, and both had a lovely time. Despite being a busy Saturday night, and a large party going on upstairs, the level of service was of a high standard, and the food was tasty and enyoyable.

I've commented in other reviews about the importance of good service, and Casa seem to have it down to a tea. We were made to feel welcome right from the off, and despite being at full capacity, the waiting staff remained friendly and polite - always leaving and arriving at the table with a smile, and never pestering.

The food was simply presented, yet enjoyable. Scallops, medallions of beef fillet, and chicken breast, all fresh, perfectly cooked and seasoned, and served with (seeminly) simple sauces that genuinely complimented the flavour of the meat. We were literally savouring every bite! We also had tiramisu and homemade chocolate ice cream for dessert, which were both at least as good as we've ever tasted.

“Very pleasant evening”
Reviewed July 27, 2012

This is a restaurant that doesn't advertise and doesn't even have it's name outside - you have to look for the green door! A nice welcome once inside, and we were offered a table on an outside terrace, a bonus on a warm summer's evening.
The Menu was extensive and the food well cooked - the filletto di Roberto was excellent. The service was attentive without being intrusive and helped to make the experience a pleasant one.
