The Almanack is a modified pub in Highcross, Leicester. Visited with my doctor son on a cold, wet early afternoon in last week of January 2013. Good fresh food (I had char-grilled free-range Gammon Rib Eye, Potato Rösti, Poached Egg & English Mustard Dressing), done perfectly well and eaten away with extra cold Guiness does wonders to your system and this is what I felt that day. Slightly costly but highly recommended.
