“Good, but be prepared to pay for it...”
Reviewed March 28, 2013

We visited with 2 friends, so 4 people with a Groupon voucher, for Sunday lunch. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and is nicely decorated, so overall a good ambience and an 'up market' feel. There was a problem with the heating so the dining area was a little cold, but the staff brought in some small heaters so this was not a problem. The basis of the menu is 'grill' so steaks feature along side a selection of the usual favourites - ribs, fish etc. The starters were OK, I had soup which was not a particularly generous but fine. For main my wife had a rib eye steak, we two chaps took a fillet (extra to the voucher) and sea bass was the other selection. All the food was of a good standard, the fillet steak I had was excellent! There was a choice of chips, potatoes or rice plus veg. The lady's took an apple crumble each for desert and we chaps topped the meal off with coffee. We also shared some wine which was particularly good. The service was efficient and friendly so all in all it was a very nice meal. My only comment was we worked out that if we didn't have the Groupon deal the meal would have come to close on £200 - this would have felt expensive - so well done Groupon! We would happily return, but be a little wary of the costs.

“Good Steakhouse”
Reviewed March 25, 2013 via mobile

We went for Sunday lunch to make a change from cooking a Sunday dinner at home. It is a steak house so there was a good choice of steaks to choose from and I was told cooked well. I had sea bass fillets which were tasty and a generous portion. There was a choice of Chips, sauté potatoes or rice and we all opted for chips. They are certainly generous with the portion sizes and the food was presented well and was hot. For pudding we had apple crumble which was very delicious. Service was friendly and efficient and the place has a good atmostphere.

“lovely food and ambience”
Reviewed March 24, 2013

Went to this restaurant last night, in the freezing snow, for my Son's 22nd birthday. The restaurant itself was decorated beautifully. Food cooked perfectly, including the 3 fillet steaks we had all prepared differently. the service was patient as we did have to wait for the sixth person to arrive from wales!
Unfortunately, the heater had broken and although the staff had done their best to bring in a new heater, the place just did not heat up and we (the ladies) sat with our coats on for the whole meal. A real shame when you've dressed up specially for a special occasion,
The bill automatically added £20 gratuity on which I really don't like anyway but especially in this circumstance felt that it shouldn't have been added. On the contrary, I thought it would have been a nice gesture to have offered complimentary coffees at the end of the meal to warm us up!
We will return as I think the place is lovely. Just unfortunate about the heating,

“Excellent Service”
Reviewed March 22, 2013

I had booked originally, then found a Groupon, and when contacted there was no fuss about the change, even though it meant less revenue. They were also happy to serve a home made cake as it was a colleagues birthday, and unlike other restaurants in the city who impose a "serving charge", did not require any extra money and were very discreet when checking when we required it to be served!
I visited with 3 colleagues, all of whom were impressed with the atmosphere, location, service and, most importantly - the food.
The starters were of a very good portion size, and well cooked, and although the bbq sauce was not to my taste - more brown sauce than anything, the steaks were cooked to our 3 different requests very well. The chicken also met with approval.
Luke - our waiter was not intrusive at all, and very good indeed.
We would certainly be returning - even at full price!

“Best restaurant in Leicester!”
Reviewed March 10, 2013

I visited this restaurant with my girlfriend last Saturday, which was the second time we have been after visiting a few months ago with a group of friends. The first time we went the service and food was second to none which is why we decided to go back. Yet again 1573 did not disappoint! The restaurant was fully booked when we walked in and as we hadn't booked we weren't sure if we'd get a table but a member of staff greeted us at the door and managed to find us one. We ordered the half rack of BBQ ribs and the prawns to start which were cooked perfectly and we didn't have to wait long despite it being busy. The mains arrived (fillet steaks) and were also cooked exactly how we wanted after being quite fussy with the cooking instructions. There was a hearty portion of chips included with both steaks and they were real steakhouse chips, brilliant! We couldn't help ordering desserts even though we were full so we shared a home-made apple crumble and custard which matched the quality of the rest. Overall it was a great visit i felt we had real one-to-one service and the staff (waiters and chefs) really made our visit enjoyable. You really get what you pay for and we will be visiting again soon!
