This premier inn is in a good location near the station and at £39 was good value for the night. The reception staff were friendly and helpful and made sure all 3 couples in the party were placed in adjacent rooms. Bar staff were friendly and if you arrive too late for food then they will order takeaway for you and have menus behind the bar ( one will even rap on request!). The rooms were comfortable and what you would expect in terms of comfort and cleanliness - my only reason for the 4 star is that they are a little more cramped Than some other premier inns we have stayed in and the rooms got VERY hot during the night. Car parking is limited to 50 spaces in the underground carpark but this didn't cause any of us any problems. Good stay and if you can get it for this price then good value.

Upon opening the door of our initially allocated room on the fifth floor the stench of stale cigarette smoke was overwhelming and we retreated to the corridor! Air freshener had obviously been used by the housekeeping staff, but that just made it worse. I do seriously hope that the threatened £100 "Restoration Fee" has indeed been charged to the former completely selfish and inconsiderate occupant to restore the room to a habitable state, and they will learn a severe lesson!
However, a quick phone call down to the very friendly Michelle on Reception resulted in her immediately coming up with keycards for another room, which was perfect. All was up to the usual excellent Premier Inn standards, with the addition of a new 40 inch flat screen TV which I understand is going into many of their hotels now.
We didn't use the restaurant at all during our stay but did use the small comfortable bar upon my return from a meeting. I asked the young lady who was serving for the wine list and chose a bottle of red for £14.99. Some time later when my wife joined me she noticed a poster on the wall behind me, which I hadn't noticed, advertising the same bottle as "Wine of the Month" at £10.99. Upon complaining at the bar I was refunded the £4 difference but I do feel strongly that I should have only have been charged the correct price in the first place. The staff surely know what is on offer.
Notwithstanding these incidents we would definitely stay there again, as we have twice previously.

There are only some 47 free spaces allocated (to this 9 storey hotel) in the very tight underground car-park, which is accessed from the back of the hotel. If you miss getting one of those then you have to pay, so arrive early if you can.

Recently stayed during a business trip.
Reception staff very friendly and offered upgrade at no additional cost
Rooms warm clean and made to a good standard

Stayed on 6th floor over looking generator not great however 2nd visit was on floor 2 over looking the main reception area which was miles better. Very quiet even though was a busy period.

On site restaurant is ok, can be pricey.

Breakfast was lovely, a wide selection of both cooked and continental items, it was that good I had seconds:-)

More trips planned to the area so no hesitation in staying there again.

A clean and tidy room - spacious with a large flat screen TV. However I stayed in 216 which had a continuous humming noise coming from a generator or something like which could not be stopped with closed window and earplugs. Very annoying.

Hotel is excellently located within sight of the city centre railway station and shopping area. Usual excellent spacious room, comfortable king-size bed, choice of pillows, tea/coffee & toiletries as standard. Stayed over for a family wedding and the friendly staff reserved three adjacent rooms before book-in.

Stayed in this hotel after a business meeting. The hotel is right next to the train station, which made it an ideal location to spend the night and travel further in the morning.

The Premier Inn does excellent when it comes to value. The rooms are spacious, clean and do have everything a traveler needs. The breakfast was pretty good too. Combine this with a friendly staff, and you have a nice place to stay. Nothing top notch, but really nothing wrong either.

The only downside, is the same as for all Premier Inns: Wow, the purple look & feel throughout the whole hotel is really really ugly. It makes the hotel looks cheap, but not in a good way.

We were treated like old friends when we arrived and during our stay.
Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff and we felt important and wanted.
We will definitely stop here again and suggest you give it a try so you can be impressed with a budget hotel.
