As a result of the high ranking of this restaurant in Leicestershire we made a visit on 12 October and we were pleased that we did! Unfortunately the weather conditions lead to difficulties getting there and we were over 15 minutes late but this caused no problem to the restaurant. I'm guessing that the location is such that the odd lateness is expected especially when the weather is poor.
The staff, whilst on average quite young, were very attentive without being obtrusive. They were knowledgeable about the menu and helped us to reach our choices. They wore clean uniforms and were well presented.
A delightful menu - all of which I would have been happy to choose. This applied to both starters and mains. We chose the mushroom starter which was wonderfully presented on a wooden platter with warm fresh garlic bread in foil. The food was very tasty and plentiful. The main we chose was "Old Spot" pork in an oriental sauce with rice - absolutely wonderful. As a result of the food quantity for both starter and main there was no room for deserts but these looked very appetising.
The décor is welcoming and the atmosphere just right.
One small gripe was that both the starters and mains arrived far quicker than expected - we hardly had time to draw breath between courses! They should allow the diners more time from ordering to the starter and also from finishing the starter to the arrival of the main. But don't let this put you off and perhaps tell them that you want a breather between courses!
I strongly recommend a visit to this restaurant.
