We booked this last minute based upon price, location and reviews. Upon arrival the very welcoming owners, Pat and mum Maureen, greeted us with beaming smiles and a lovely cuppa! He carefully booked us in explaining all the necessities to us in a polite and warm manner. The room was basic but there was plenty of tea and coffee available and everything was spotless. The bed was very comfortable and we were asleep in minutes. The breakfast was 1st rate and nothing was any trouble at all. Great hosts and we would highly recommend this establishment to all! I left it to a friend to find and book a suitable room for a recent convention in Blackpool and to be honest I personally would not have booked a room so far away from the Winter Gardens (not the hotels fault) also I would have paid more to stay in a proper hotel with its associated comforts and facilities.

The Glenroy is not a hotel or at least not in the definition that I would use, rather it's a guest house.

The room was allocated on the first floor and easy to access, however I have never stayed in a room that was so small. Everything was crammed into such a small space. The tea/coffee making facilities were at the foot of the bed (the only room for it), a wooden/canvas cupboard along side the bed and a TV just inside the door, leaving less than 1 metre square of floor space. Although I was disappointed, it wasn't of great importance on this trip as I would be at the convention from breakfast until late at night, however if you are looking for a room to take a break in, this isn't it.

The size of the room aside I was taken aback by how dirty the room was. I wanted to plug my alarm clock in and had to reach the electrical socket that was located behind the headboard of the bed, sliding my arm down and then out I ended up with a thick layer of dust along my sleeve and had to change my shirt.

Keeping with the size issue, the bathroom was tiny. You can't sit on the toilet without banging your head on the sink and I ended up drying myself in the shower as there was no way you could step out unless it was into the bedroom. I couldn't put any of my toiletries onto the shelf that was provided as it was hanging off the wall.

The big saving grace was Pat and his mum Maureen who are the perfect hosts. Pat was extremely helpful and attentive to both myself and the others in our group. Breakfast was excellent and the choice of cereals and full English were superb. Pat was also open to changes to the menu from my fellow travellers. The level of service made up for my disappointment in the room.

So Pat...... get room number 2 sorted and cleaned and keep up the excellent personal service and breakfast.

Room Tip: Unless you want the broom cupboard... make sure you don't get room 2

If you're looking for the perfect place to stay when visiting Blackpool this is it! Pat and Maureen were excellent hosts, nothing was too much trouble and you were always greeted with a friendly smile. Pat welcomed us as soon as we arrived, Maureen brought us a cup of tea while we sat down with Pat and he gave us tips on where to go and what to do. Our room was comfortable, the facilities good and we slept very well. At breakfast a cheery Maureen sorted us out with tea, coffee and toast and served us with our choice of cooked food after we had our cereal and juice. We had a wonderful time in Blackpool, made so much more special by our stay at the Glenroy. We would heartily recommend staying here to anyone visiting Blackpool. Thank you again Pat and Maureen!

Just come back from a weekend trip in Blackpool where we stopped at the Glenroy Hotel. Pat and Maureen are both fantastic and polite guests, and we were given a lot of good information about where to eat, drink and see around the surrounding area when we arrived. Pat also moved his car, so that we could leave our car in the on street parking, and avoid the £10 per night charges of the cafe across the road.

We'd like to thank Pat even more so, as when mum left her glasses in the room, Pat sent them to us by Special Delivery to reach us the next day - fantastic service.

Just returned from a break in Blackpool where my sister and I stayed at the Glenroy. I cannot praise Pat enough - what a wonderful host he is and with the help of his mum runs a lovely little business. Comfy beds with feather duvets and pillows and lovely white bed linen. Breakfast cooked to order and always a friendly word and smile. It's a hard time to run a B&B - and I wish Pat all the best and sincerely hopes that he comes through this recession with a thriving business. Good luck and if we are up that way again we will certainly look you up!
