I booked 1 nights stay for my brother & his wife via the internet. BIG MISTAKE.
On arrival they were greeted by scaffolding covering the entire front of the building, along with stripped paintwork & brickwork. (No mention on the website) Incidently, I was required to pay in full in advance, therefore removing the option on their part to re-book somewhere else when they realised what they were actually paying for.

The woman they met on arrival barely spoke English & directed them up the stairs (no lift & there are 4 floors including the ground floor) to their room. A family en-suite with bay fronted seaviews, well it would have been had the scaffolding not been in the way.
They were greeted by a very pungent musty, unclean smell. (don't think it had been occupied for ages or maybe they save that room for the pensioners or internet mugs like us) They had to shuffle along the wall to get around the beds, walking on the thread bare carpet to take a look at the so called bathroom. No bath & the shower was only big enough for a very slim dwarf.

To cut a long story short, they walked out without staying the night or receiving a refund & booked into Premier Inn where they spent the same amount of money for their very pleasant, clean & comfortable overnight stay.

Camelot hotel is definately a very dated, overpriced B&B. Wouldn't want to make the same expensive mistake of booking via the net with mis leading claims of comfort by the hotel.

Stayed here for Bank Holiday weekend in August 2007. There was an offer of 3 nights for £120.00 for a double room but we paid an extra £10.00 per night for the Tudor Room which includes a 4-poster bed. It also had a small balcony outside. For the price we got a very nice room with a view of the promenade/sea and en-suite bathroom. The hotel is very clean and the owners Peter and Olga are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast included cereals, toast and a full English breakfast with tea or coffee and orange juice.

Car parking may be a bit difficult. As with most hotels on the promenade this one does not have its own designated parking but the owners will try to help you find free parking wherever possible. Beware of the expensive Blackpool Council car parks which charge a fortune!

As for Blackpool, everyone has their own opinion of it but we loved staying here for the weekend. We would definitely recomend a day ticket on the trams which can also be used on the buses for just under £6.00 (you can buy them in newsagents or on the tram). Definitely go to the tower - for £15.95 you get a ride to the top of the tower and the walk of faith (glass floor with pavement below!), the aquariam, 2 hour circus and of course the ballroom.

Would definitely stay here again and definitely worth the extra for the four poster bed!

  • Liked — 4 poster bed!
  • Disliked — lack of parking
