just arrived back from a trip to the doric. blackpool had become a little shabby and tired and i wasn't really looking forward to my visit. well i eat my hat, the doric was very modern and catered for all my needs, room was spacious, modern and spotlessley clean. i was well impressed, the food was fantastic and the menu would suit everyone. the staff were friendly, helpful and went out of their way to help. a special thanks to dawn, james and gordon who made our stay memorable. doric i will be back. please keep up the good work and give the above named a pat on the back.

Room Tip: the family rooms are very spacious

I booked this room on booking.com, the room on the website was gorgeous. I called to make sure we had a renovated room as per the picture on the website and was told i would have one. What we got was nothing like this. A couple of friends joined us and didnt book. Just turned up and was given a family SUITE! Living space, raised bed, seperate room with bunkbeds, 2 bathrooms! (They had no children, we did!) Apparently the only room they had available. I went to reception and asked if there were any other rooms for me to look at as the rooms were so hot, the windows had to be wide open day and night and a generator was going from 9-12pm every night. Very noisy! Was shown another unrenovated room but the noisy and heat were still there! Would not book here again. Not very family friendly in my opinion. Only good thing was the service at breakfast!

Stayed at the Doric 26th to 29th of April, first time this year and as usual everything was perfect. booked at the last minute and was told the hotel was virtually full and was offered a family room on the 4th floor with side sea view. My wife and i were a bit worried as we normally try to book one of the sea view suites or rooms. Should not have worried. Lovely modern room (127), double, single, and bunkbeds (Please remember this is 2 star). Would recommend it to any family thinking of staying at the hotel. The hotel was full because of an army re-union. Always been a bit wary of groups when we stay as some of them think they own the hotel. Again shoud not have worried, what a great set of people. Had a good laugh with a lot of the army lads and familys. We were staying because of our grandaughters 3rd birthday. (our family live nearby) We had other family members that came back to the hotel with us and could not praise it enough. The staff made them all feel welcome. Thanks to James, Stewart, Toni, Stacy. All the staff at this hotel are perfect, cannot praise them all enough. To sum up. Staff, cleanliness, food, bars, pools, public areas etc, A1. Do not understand people who complain about this 2 star hotel (not many though, should be 3). Look forward to Seeing you all again at the beginning of August. Ann & Steve.

Room Tip: Seaview rooms are great. Pay a little more. Perfect.

Well where do i begin ? This was my first stay at the Doric Hotel and it certainly won't be the last.
The staff were very welcoming and friendly and a great big thank you to James Drury the restaurant manager who was very friendly and helpful to all of the guests nothing is too much trouble for him. Also a very big thank you to all of the other staff as well nothing bad can be said. The hotel is very clean and the food is of excellent standard, and a great choice of menu. My family and their friends have been visiting the hotel now for the last eight years or so and keep returning so that says it all really.
I would certainly recommend it to anyone. The evening entertainment was also exellent and a big thank you to all of you as well. My room was more than adequate with easy access to it by lift or staircase and the Hotel facilities are second to none. Public transport is within easy access of the hotel with bus and tram stops directly outside. Many thanks for an enjoyable visit kind regards to you all.

We stayed at the Doric for 3 days, on arrival we were given room number 49 which was far too small for a travel cot,, reception moved us to another room straight away,, the room was pretty old fashioned with an older portable tv,, plenty of towels and always hot water though,, I did see other rooms and think we were put in the room that needs upgraded as stated in other reviews ,, the restaurant was of excellent service, James went out if his to make sure our little one Kai had everything he needed, the food was of excellent standard and even the fussy eater would have a cheek to moan,,,staff were always smiling,, especially Stuart who made us feel very welcome,, the entertainment wasn't for the young due to it been pensioner week, every night ballroom and line dancing music,, drinks prices were pretty steep at the bar but suited us to stay in cause of the little one. I would recommend this hotel to anyone,, the maid was also lovely and our stay was really enjoyable that I would re book

stayed fri to mon in may 2013 ,first time at the Doric. Probably the kindest way to review this 2 star hotel is by bullet points -positive...good location, friendly staff, very warm, clean , newly refurbished bathrooms.
negative...food very average, too salty, spicy.,too warm bedrooms, dated decor, acess within hotel from one side to other rather difficult as lifts only go so far.
please don't think it was all bad,but we have had better. and i suppose when the weather outside is torrential rain and hurracaine winds,a bedroom with sea view ,if theres a gap in the window, and you can hear the wind howling, isn't condusive to a good stay....but i have to say a big thank you to the hotel first aider for his very good and professional help when our grandson fell and cut his ear.He really helped put him at his ease.

Room Tip: ask for rooms from 101 upwards ,as these seem to be in the newer part of hotel, room 112 is a lovel...
