Stayed at the doric early march, fantastic modern room, flat screen television ect. Swimming pool and other facilities kept the kids occupied throughout the week. Every member of staff really helpfull couldent do enough for us, wich created a great atmosphere! Booked again for next year and will try and come back in the illuminations. Thanks to all.

We were a group of 48 and all enjoyed our experience so much so that it is booked for 2012.The food was good and plenty of choice, rooms were up to standard, and the staff were so agreeable from reception to dining room and bar,and cleaning staff that they helped to make our stay enjoyable. The entertainment suited us down to the ground as we are a group of dancers and so our evenings were well catered for .

we have just returned from the doric, and we thought that before we penned a review we would try and pick fault. well we could'nt. The hotel itself is gorgeous and has some loveley communal areas, for both company and a bit of peace. The bedooms are clean comfy and cover all requirements. The restaurant is cracking and the staff even more so, they are excellent especially James, he is an absolute credit. Breakfasts are delish as are the evening meals and if you cannot make dinner then there is a wide selction of sarnies and chips, the staff cannot do enough and. they are all so helpful and polite.Iwould most certainly recommend the Doric and say that it should be a 4 star

This is our second year of staying at the Doric with extended family and friends and we will be going back again next year.
Love the long walks on the beach after Breakfast, into town for the panto then back to the hotel for a swim, steam and jacuzi. The Doric, is clean and comfortable, although sometimes a little too warm in the evenings.
The staff are so polite and nothing is too much trouble. My only comment would be that the games machines don't work too well and didn't pay out or faulted.......but to be honest it wasn't a major big deal. The games room is more for the families to play a little on an evening after tea.
Thanks Doric, see you next year, hopefully in the Doric Suit again! ;0)

We have just come back from a Gold week at the Doric. It was good value, very clean, food exellent and a jacuzzi to die for. However, the evening entertainment was bingo and sequence dancing. This was popular and the dance floor was generally full, but so was the lounge. If you cant do that particular dance, you are stuck. There was the occasional waltz so anyone could potter around the floor, but otherwise the choice was to sit out. Also, the music was depressing. "Strictly" it certainly wasn't.
The only other criticism is that the 2 lifts are very tiny and hopelessly inadequate to serve the number of rooms and, on a Gold week, the age of the guests. I was able to walk up to our room on the 3rd floor but my husband was not.
I dont think we'll be going back, but if we do it will only be for a weekend.
If I tell friends about this, I will advise them to book for a show instead of staying in the hotel in the evening.
