Having read previous reviewers comments, we as a Family were not expecting what we got, though there are a few minor problems, THAT! I can point out are being dealt with, the Hotelier Lorraine welcomed us late in the evening and made us very welcome, the bedroom was clean with fresh linen and towels, refreshment tray and kettle, biscuits, we had a very good nights sleep and were told breakfast at 8-30am, we went down to have a cooked breakfast, egg, bacon, sausage, tomato, mushroom and half a fried slice with toast, more if we wanted it, cereal and juice, coffee or tea, thoroughly enjoyed by all, we had then to say our goodbyes and were not expecting Lorraines reaction to us leaving, cuddles for us all and a most hearty come back again, we will say, WE WILL GO BACK, if in the area. This lady was lovely and made all her guests welcome.

Room Tip: Family room sleeps four and was very good value for money, lovely surroundings, there is a bar in th...

Paid £152 for 4 nights but was really disappointed with the room, had a twin as there were 2 of us but was really cramped and not enough space to put our 2 suit cases, the beds were uncomfortable and duvets too heavy although the owner was happy to change it when we complained, the extractor fan in the bathroom wasnt working properly and stayed on for an hr after turning the light out and the telly isnt working properly and the shower wasn't the best, it is however in a good location near to the trams and if u don't mind roughing it for a couple of days then it is fine otherwise don't expect the Ritz.

Stayed here and paid £38 for a double over easter weekend.....at £19 each per night was not expecting much, particularly after reading reviews AFTER my wife booked this. this place is very dated stayed on the top floor room itself was ok apart from the mouldy net curtains.
afore mentioned dogs in earlier reviews were not in attendance. Heating in the room was via an oil filled radiator which was immediately switched on and left at maximum as the room itself felt damp. The bed was small 4'6" but at least it was clean but i was disturbed by hearing a phone vibrate...alerting my wife to the fact she had a message was greeted with surprise...in fact what i could hear was the phone on silent in the next room vibrating on a hard surface. Not a place for a romantic get away as everything could be heard through the thin partition walls.
Breakfast was in stark contrast to the hotel. It was hot and of good quality, plenty of cereal and toast....this saved the day from being a complete one star stay.

We were greeted with "you are a day late". We weren't but that didn't seem to matter to this owner. We proved that we hadn't made a mistake but there was no apology. The front door was Mortice-locked, which we had to on entering and leaving each time, which did not seem very welcoming, even though the handle on the outside was falling off. Was this an attempt to make guests responsible for hotel security? There were four dog bones, a dog toy and a yapping/barking dog in the hall - there is no reception desk. Also the dog is allowed to lie on the seats in the residents' lounge covering the common areas and seats with dog hairs! Our room had the dirtiest carpet we have ever had in an hotel, corners didn't get cleaned and the bedside lamp was covered in cobwebs and dust. To say it was an hotel was wrong - a B&B would have been nearer the mark and then we wouldn't have chosen it. It is something out of the 1970s with low maintenance, damp patch on the ceiling and very worn paint. Although the owner tried to be friendly and helpful, he just didn't manage it - the whole place is sad, sad, sad.
In it's favour is the breakfast. The food is good, the choice is good and the service is quick.
However, breakfast alone cannot offset all the negatives. An experience we do not wish to repeat.

WARNING - Do not stay here if you value your health and well being. Apon arrival we were greeted by an overwelming smell of rotten dogs and stale smoke. There was a dog waiting to greet us which was freindly but stinking. The room had black damp in the seiling, there was a rotten smell of excrement coming from the toilet as they have shredder toilets, something i have not come across nor want to ever again. The bed had a huge dip in it making it very uncomfortable. Apon waking up we headed down stairs to recieve our breakfast only to be served it with added dog hair in it. This was the final straw. i packed our bags and proceeded to check out as fast as we could, On check out the owner did not seem 1 bit surpirised that we were checking out 2 days early and did not even ask why, they surely must experience this quite alot. After leaving i passed by sometime later only to hear another guest outside on the phone saying how disgusted she was with the place. This is by far the worst hotel i have stayed in within the UK and frankly should be shut down immediately.

Room Tip: Do not stay here!

I stayed in the double room with my friend as we went for a Hen do. The room was a decent size, clean, warm and with an en suite bathroom. The breakfast was lovely, I had the cooked breakfast everything you need after a night out. The owners were very welcoming on arrival and when we left in the morning. I would recommend the hotel as it has everything you need and it was good value for money. My only let down was that our window didn't close properly and the seagulls are noisy in the morning! Other than that a great hotel.
