after looking through many hotels and guest houses i picked this one Chaps,
i arrived on a october saturday evening around 6pm, i was greeted by a man called Kevin
who took me up to my room chatting about how my journey was,
he opened the door to a large double bed, wardrobe,a table and a kettle with free tea and coffee,(not out of date),and as i am diabetic i had asked for a fridge, which was in my room when i arrived (no extra charge) i was informed that as it was saturday they were busy if i required a meal to book it soon as it may be an hour before it would be ready,as it is all freshly cooked, great choice for around a fiver and believe me when i say the plates of food where grand and excellent, the bar was nice and friendly, chatty from the first 5 mins onwards, during the week there was about 4-6 people staying,i was informed on monday that as it was quiet they might not open up the resturaunt one night
i was informed at every breakfast that wednesday night would not open,
the man making the meals is called mark and both Kevin and Mark did everything to make me feel right at home which i did,the bar was closed in the daytime though it is open as a place to iron your clothes, use the computer, or to meet other guests, you are not tied to your room, the place was spotless, and as being nosey i asked to look at some of the other rooms and suites All clean and no smells
for the money i paid for the room i got a bargain and the tea coffee sugar milk was filled every 2 days and if i had run out before just to ask and it was refilled.. sheets and towels changed every second day,
on leaving i was sad it was a nice relaxing week with nice company and i will gladly
re book this hotel i dont have to look for another its a happy well run place with nice people in charge

I have stayed at Chaps hotel many times having been introduced to Chaps, Kevin and Mark several years ago by a good friend. Each visit has re-confirmed me in the knowledge that Kevin and Mark offer exceptional hospitality and great value for money. The hotel is very well appointed, and very well maintained. Cleanliness is exemplory, and both Kevin and Mark's attention to the needs of their guests is without fault. Rooms are very comfortable with all mod cons, and the public areas - reception, bar, restaurant and the chill out room, are tastefully appointed and spotlessly clean. The bar is friendly, well stocked and very reasonably priced, Evening meal portions are huge, and of unquestionable quality, and like the hotel in general, - excellent value for money. Breakfasts are freshly cooked to order, and guests individual menu/ingrediant variation requests are catered for without question or complaint. There has always been a walm welcome at Chaps, and I can heartilly recommend Chaps to one and all. MRx

We stayed in the "Sinatra Suite" on the first floor and could not fault anything. Wonderful comfy bed, flat screen digital tv with perfect picture and spotless bathroom. There was also an information booklet in the room which explained everything you would want to know for your stay in the hotel. Breakfast was excellent and of consistent quality each day. You could even arrange for breakfast in your room if you wished. We also ate from the evening menu and the quality of this was equally excellent. The dining room, bar and other areas are modern and tastefully decorated. Kevin & Mark were very friendly and could not have been more helpful, whether it was ideas for things to do or sorting an accident we had with a mug of coffee!! We have booked to go back again at Christmas and would definitely recommend to anyone - a "home-from-home"

Chaps is billed as 'the friendliest Hotel in Blackpool,' but the owner couldn't have interacted with us less if he had tried! Our 'welcoming chat' with him was limited to 3 sentences or so at most. He couldn't even be bothered to open up the Hotel bar in the evening as the place 'wasn't busy enough' in the last week of August at the peak of high season. The room was nicely presented, to be fair - but most people opt for a gay Hotel because they wan't to be able to socialise and interact with other Gay men. There was no opportunity for this at Chaps. There were no 'social' spaces and you are kept strictly in your room (except during breakfast - which was fairly run of the mill and tasteless). We will definitely not be stopping at Chaps again and would certainly question its claim to be a 'friendly' space.
