“ok for the price”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 29, 2012

spent one night here on 9th October. lovely friendly receptionist checked me in. Room was small but adequate. plenty of tea, coffee etc, but the only plug for the kettle was near the floor under window, flex not very long so It had to stand either on the floor or on the very edge of window bottom, not very good for health and safety! Bed was very comfortable though. Not impressed at breakfast, reception had told me 9am was the best time, as all the coach trippers would have finished and it would be less busy, that was true, but I found there were no bowls left for the cereals, and juice jugs empty (no glasses if they'd been full) no clean tables laid up, and it took a while to catch a young lady's eye. She very quickly brought my breakfast though, but then had to find somebody again for milk and sugar, no butter brought with toast, then had to look round other tables for jam/marmalade to put on it. I never did get any cereal or juice! (and it's the first ever 'full english' without sausage!!!! But at the price for bed and breakfast, shouldn't complain.

Just spent a weekend with my family at Madison Hotel. What a lovely place to stay. New owners are busy overhauling the place and when they've finished, it'll be the best place to stay in Blackpool. Really comfortable beds. Excellent food. And a genuinely warm welcome from genuinely lovely people. Thanks guys. We'll certainly be back.

Room Tip: Our rooms on the 2nd floor were quiet and comfortable.

our room wasnt ready when we arrived ,to say it was small is an overestimation, the bathroom was so small you could go to toilet and have a shower at the same time, lucky us only had 1 night, the tv was in a dire state and only had 3 channels, sleep was impossible to the noisy guests and the lift noise, breakfast was abysmal tables not laid up so we had to request suger and milk, when toast arrived we asked for butter which was just thrown on the table so all in all not exactly an advert for blackpool

Room Tip: try another hotel

We found the hotel better than expected, having read some dire reviews. But I guess it depends on your expectations. It is Blackpool and it is a cheap holiday. The food was good, the rooms were clean and comfortable. The whole place is in need of decorating, but so I understand are all the Blackpool hotels. We had nice weather so didn't need the heating. If you want to watch TV in your room it is not the place to go. We never watch TV on holiday, so no problems for us but the TVs were all old and could only (at best) get 5 main channels. There was a better TV in the lounge I believe. The only problem really, not for us, but for others, was the lift. If you really need a lift, then don't go there. The lift was very temperamental and often didn't work.
The staff were friendly and helpful. Suitcases were taken to, and collected, from rooms. We would certainly stay there again if we were in the area. Entertainment was good. Tram and bus stops close by.

On arrival found the staff very helpful. Luggage taken to your room if you required. I went as a single and was put into a very pleasant, but small, double room. Room had all the facilities, i.e. television, tea and coffee making facilities, and was very clean. En suite adequate with all the requirements needed.
Food, including breakfast and evening meal, was excellent with very good choice and portions. Staff were very helpful and we were not waiting for food to arrive at the tables.
The bar was very well stocked and the prices very reasonable. I thought that the happy hour was a very good idea and the prices were reduced by a considerable amount.
I found the owners to be a very pleasant and friendly couple, and as they have only been there for two months, are doing an excellent job.
If I ever went back to Blackpool this is where I would like to stay.

Travel was good, hotel was great, clean and tidy. Excellent location right on seafront and easy access to Blackpool illumination. Room tired in need of tlc. Evening entertainment ok, enjoyable. Food and service excellent. Hosts very friendly and helpful. Only been running hotel for a month, and have some great ideas for the future of the hotel. Will like to come back and stay again : )
