Booked this hotel as a last minute thing and took in the grand national as well, have to say from the outside the Viking does its self no favours but inside it was better than anticipated. food was ok and entertainment very good
would go back

Room Tip: Choose one with a sea view

Arrived back from another great stay at the Viking Sunday to Friday, as always the food was brilliant and Buddy and Carl were on top form along with the other entertainment. The only fault was the heating. There was a fault with the heating in the bar across from the restaurant but it wasn't repaired all week and it was bitter cold, so you could not enjoy a drink in there usually is quite warm, also the heating is never on in the downstairs bar so unless you have body heat in there it is always cold especially in the mornings. We shall be back though in the summer and looking forward to it.

Room Tip: It is good to have a sea view although a bit pricey. The view is great especially if the sun is shi...

It was my parents who actually visited the hotel, as they had been earlier on in the year and thoroughly enjoyed it...only by chance that i booked them into the hotel as their usual hotel was booked up on the dates they wanted.
To say they will NOT be going back to that hotel is an underestimation......!
My Mam could not say enough about how they had enjoyed the Viking Hotel for food...which was apparently OUT OF THIS WORLD for choice, taste and service.,
They enjoyed the entertainment and all round visit for their Golden Wedding Anniversary..
They took friends with them and they enjoyed it too..!
Their next visit is being planned now..!
And i and my partner are booked in for the end of April..........as we were impressed too..!

There was a party of 10, had a great week as always. Food, entertainment was brilliant as usual. The staff we great and friendly. We come to this hotel 3-4 a year, people say don't you get fed up with going to the same place. We say no as it always great.

Booked hotel on a cancellation. Had a great weekend with fine food and the best of entertainment. It was a freezing weekend and the bathroom had no heating so it was a quick in and out with no time to enjoy a shower. The bar adjacent to the restaurant was also freezing cold so not the place to enjoy a drink before dinner. Suppose you can`t have everything and will return again to the Viking.

just got back home after spending weekend at the viking,as usual all the staff were brilliant the entertainment top class and i have got to say the room we had (328)we will ask for the next time we go.the only negative is the thought that we were ripped off when buying drinks being charged £1.30 pence for a tiny bottle of tonic when it is only 30 pence for a splash but the barman said they can only use the spash when it is an all inclusive weekend.this is not a very good practice.it didnt spoil our weekend but it is something management should look at.

Room Tip: higher floors are better.

Once again we isited the Viking hotel, this time for a fully inclusive 5 nights stay in March 2013.We had a very pleasant supprise on arrival at reception. We were given a sea view room,at no extra cost.I had only booked a standard room. The hotel food and entertainment was as usual good, with Buddy Lee and Carl Schofield at their best. The room was ok,but the bathroom was a little dated with a 1970 look.
There was a downside to the Hotel this time we stayed. There seemed to be a shortage of waiting staff in the Restaurant.Dirty plates left on your table for long periods before they were taken away. Also, both the upstairs and downstairs lounge Bars were very cold at times during the day.Apart from that we had an enjoyable stay and will come again.

Room Tip: Book lower rooms.Less stairs to climb
