We stayed at the Arthington for a few days, in the Twin Room.

Although the room was spotless, and well presented, I must say it was quite small and the shower/sink/toilet room was unbelievably small, not suitable for anyone of a larger than average size.

The hotel is decorated in a very, very modern way, which may not be to some people's tastes, it could be described as garish by some.

The dining area is unfortunately incredibly cramped, I had my table knocked several times by other guests passing. This I feel could be made much more accommodating by making the bar much smaller than it is, as it dominates the room way too much.

I must say the food served was fantastic, both at breakfast and in the evening when we decided to eat in.

I would recommend this hotel, but only to young trendy couples and to those who are slim and of average size.

Thank you very much for taking the time to post your review. However, cant understand why it has taken 11 MONTHS to air your grevences! In fact we do pride ourselves on being able to identify each and every reviewer, but, we have no recolection of your stay and neither can we identify with your name?

For the benefit of future trip advisor users we will try to put your views into perspective.

Firstly we are a GUEST HOUSE not a hotel, the building is itself an old Victorian Terrace which has been extended over the years. The rooms are therefore what they are and we never advertise them as large. We have over the years reduced our occupancy capacity from 27 down to 19 to try and give a little bit more space in the rooms were possible. However, ALL our rooms do meet the national accreditation (Enjoy England) standard for a 4 star silver award guest accommodation. This annual inspection by a Professional Hotel Inspector takes into consideration room size, use of space, quality of products used. We have now run The Arthington for over 6 years and have continuously refurbished to hopefully meet the increasing expectations of the researched traveller, this may be too modern for some peoples taste but never garish. All our rooms are featured on our website and are individual in decoration we like to think that we are exactly what we say on the tin. To only score us 3 out of 5 overall and 2 out of 5 for the room is INSULTING! considering the flat screen TV with Freeview, IPod docking stations, free WiFi connectivity, comfortable beds, hospitality tray with teas, coffees, hot chocolate, cappucino, bottled water, busicuits as well as bathrooms with bathsheets, handtowels, faceclothes, shampoo, shower gel, conditioner, showercaps, soap.

The Bar/Dining area/Lounge was refurbished at the end of 2007 to give a open plan feel. This was not cheap (£40K) and careful consideration was given to the size of the bar area, unfortuantely we were also constrained by current regulations which dictated the working area that we had to have behind the bar. The end result however, was exactly what we wanted and does give the room the impact Wow factor (not our words but those of many, many guests). Since then we have made many changes to the layout of the dining area to try and make it more ergonomic and yes sometimes it is a squeeze. However, the food served, choice, quantity and more important quality does make up for this which is why we were awarded the Breakfast Award in 2011 again by Enjoy England. If you did feel cramped then why decide to eat in on an evening, which is purely optional, with plenty of places in Blackpool where you could have eaten out.

Finally for you to try to dictate what sort of guests our establishment is best suited for is presumptious to say the least. We do not judge our guests by race, colour, creed, sexual orientation or size. The guests we want are those which come to Blackpool to enjoy themselves, respect the fact that they are not the only ones in the building and that they are staying in a very good standard of accommodation which offers excellent value for money. We now live and operate in the world of TV programmes such as 4 in a bed and the hotel inspector as well as review websites which can sometimes hold businesses to ransom. But we have strived hard and invested not just financially but time and energy into building up a good business based on giving the best service and value for money that we can offer. We shall take all your positve comments, reflect very briefly on your negatives and assume you will not be wishing to book with us again in the future.

My husband and i stayed here for 2 nights, we were in the super King room and it was fantastic. A huge room with beautiful decoration. Elaine and Steve were excellent hosts and the breakfast was brilliant. My daughter and her husband and 2 kids were also staying and my grandson only likes boiled eggs, Steve went to the bother of making him egg in a cup with a funny coloured egg cover, my grandson thought this was great!! Would highly recommend this hotel.
See you Soon Steve and Elaine. Thanks

Just returned home after a five day holiday at The Arthington for the fifth time.Wouldn't dream of staying any where else. The Arthington is situated on a lovely road between South and Central piers. From the moment you walk through the door you are made welcome by Elaine and Steve. The decor is finished to a very high standard very modern and spotless, We stayed in the "Super King" room very spacious complete with dressing gowns. Beds are so comfy. Breakfasts are lovely and huge.Evening bar menu is available with a good section of food which is delicious.Just take a look at the reviews.
See you both again next year.

Chris and Les

Room Tip: Room 1"Superking" is huge worth paying a little extra.
