“Read the reviews before booking. Disgusting!”
Reviewed August 14, 2013 via mobile

We booked this hotel for three nights for three people. When we arrived, no one informed us of the hotel having a lift until we attempted climbing the stairs! When we got to our room the corridors were tight, and it didn't help that the cleaner had abandoned all the towels and sheets on the floors. Opening the door of the room we opened up the most cramped hotel room iv ever seen. Not a double and a single as advertised but a fold up bed with a thin mattress and a queen sized bed. Unfolding the campbed was a urine stained mattress with no sheet to cover it. The wallpaper is falling off the walls with damp, shelves are angled so nothing can sit on them. Our tv (my kindle had a bigger screen) was up so high on the wall you could barely see it with wires hanging out everywhere. The digibox was sellotaped onto another digibox and used as a shelf, again hanging off the tv with wires everywhere. Our drawer had a massive gaping hole, the cupboard had been booted through at the back. The shower took about 5 mins to heat up and the carpets in the bed room felt soggy like the damp was creaping through.Absolutely disgusting!! So going to sleep was horrendous, we were scared to close our eyes! The campbed didn't fit in the room so you had to climb over the third person to go to the toilet, the tiles on the roof were stained and lifted with the wind. Our bed sheets smelt of damp when you lifted them. We got no towels, had to lift them from the corridor outside the room, thankfully in a bag covered. We complained to the receptionist about the urine covered campbed and they said they would change it. However it was changed to another urine covered mattress, the girls in the room next door had blood on their mattress! The breakfast was greasy and rank, the dishes were dirty and we sat for ages before asking to be served. No entertainment at night and the bar is locked shut leaving one way out of the hotel if there was a fire. We actually left a day early because we couldn't stay here any longer. Told the manager and he went in the defensive, no apology or refund offered. Complete ignorance to how disgusting the hotel is.

Apologies for the length of this review but I cannot describe how appalling this hotel actually is. Revolting would be the best word to describe it.

The owner / Manager Ha! presented as rude, offensive, racist, smarmy, not interested or helpful unless it was in payment required up front despite visa card and would only accept cash. He made inappropriate remarks and overtures to my 14 year old niece. He made racist comments about a family and openly abused them in the breakfast room because they did not eat meat and this inconvenienced him, but through out the 5 night stay he made no effort at alternative breakfast. My accent was mocked and I was openly laughed at. The breakfast area was so dirty is was a health and safety issue. Juice was so watered down no one drank it and it was presented day after day. Cups, cutlery ect unbelievable dirty. Fry was small and no choice offered. Attitude was we have your money no refunds and if you don't like it leave. If you really complained the police were called and you were accused of upsetting staff and asked to leave, what a con. The manager Kevin spent his day out side smoking and making inappropriate comments when his time would be better spent ensuring the proper functioning of the hotel. The décor was poor and one could not sleep in the beds for the springs coming through the mattress, this I would have allowed for as it is an old building but coupled with the lack of interest or concern from management it was unbearable. The greatest concern was the lack of Health and Safety with connecting doors to the bar locked from 9.30pm / 10.00pm until 8am. I came down the middle stairs when fire alarm went off only to find this door locked and no option but to return to the top floor and cross to other stairs HOW DANGEROUS. All this because management would not man the bar which had very little stock only that bought from off licence and illegal to sell separately. Management also served alcohol to minors when their parents were not present. Reception mostly unmanned and only one key given per room and there was great difficulty obtaining a master key to open the room if one of the party returned alone. A family with a disabled child seen struggling with the child and then then wheelchair up the long narrow stairs because the lift was out of bounds or not working, either way residents were not made aware of the lift. No help or support was offered not even concern shown.

Me and my husband stayed for 1 night, first impressions off the hotel was that it was pretty dated but very big. The girl on reception was very friendly & we was able to check in earlier than we thought. We was on the 2rd floor and our room was pretty basic but OK. WE had a bed, TV, tea & coffee facilities & a small en suite & we had a lovely view of the sea and the Pepsi max. There was a 'bar' in the hotel but they didn't do draught beer so we had to have a can of lager instead. The breakfast was ok nothing special about it. All in all you get what you pat for.

We arrived at the hotel at 2pm our room was ready for us straight away.
Our room was on first floor, the room was totally clean could not find any dust at all and the bedding was clesn and bathroom was spotless and no damp what so ever.
At first we was abit worried about staying here after the reviews but we found it a great place to stay.
All the staff are really friendly and the service is quick.
The hotel was busy as its school holidays and limited parking spots but anywhere on street outside hotel is free anyway.
I would ignore the reviews was perfect for us and definitely would stay again and we stayed for three nights .

when i arrived we were given our keys and the guy who served us did not even bother to tell us there was a lift to take us to 3 rd floor.we used the stairs.on getting to the room i was surprised to see two beds squashed in a small room.i had booked for a classic tripple room but what i saw was real shock to me.the cups in the room were dirty and the room was dusty.i complained to the guy at the reception and he said that was the room which was available ,he could not help.at night i didnt sleep at all the bed is soo spingy not comfortable at all.the small guest bed where my other daughter slept kept on falling down the whole night.when i complained again abt the bed he said someone was going to fix it .when i came back 2 nd day from the beach,it was stil the same not fixed.now abt the breakfast.the tablea in the dining room were all dirty.the cups and curtlery dirty.BROADWAY HOTEL Spoiled my holiday and for my two daughters this was just a nightmare.I think it should be closed immediately because its disaster to the nation and to the tourism industry.
