========================
Arrival
========================

We all decided to travel to Blackpool for a family members birthday. Since we have travelled 170 miles by car, we were hungry and tired. We popped into thier bar for a bite to eat, and so arose the first disappointment. The burgers were swimming in grease, and the pizzas were obviously frozen tack that they have stuck in the oven. Considering the pizza cost £7 you'd expect a darn sight better than a cheap frozen pizza that probably cost a couple of quid.

========================
Rooms
========================

First impressions of the room were ok, the rooms were small and reasonably clean, apart from dirty windows and stained ceilings. The walls are paper thin, so just a word of advice take some ear plugs, or better yet, choose a different hotel! The beds were not particularly comfortable and sqeaky, as I found out at 4am when I was awoken by a lovely couple next door having sex, on top of people in other rooms coughing. It might not be such a big deal for someone at my age, but for a child to be able to hear such things too is disgusting.

========================
Breakfast
========================

In the morning we went down for breakfast, seating was limited, but luckily in our case we was seated instantly, other families had to wait. Breakfast was only served between 8am - 10am; two hours for an entire hotel to have breakfast... rediculous! The food itself was ok, but yet again, swimming in grease, I've seen a lot better.

========================
Goes from bad to worse
========================

After breakfast we headed out to Pleasure Beach, which was a brilliant day out! Part way through the day my gran (whose 70th birthday it was) started to feel ill from her cancer, so a few family members headed back to the hotel with her so she could rest. Back at the hotel member of staff told my gran that she needed to go to reception immediately, so she did.

Upon arrival at reception she was told that we had not booked 2 nights but only booked one night! As a result they had literally grabbed all of our personal belongings (including items which were in the safes, and my gran's birthday cake, which was damaged as a result), stuffed them into a binliner and placed them in reception without even phoning us first! This is when the staff showed their true colours, my gran checked her email confirmation for the book which showed two nights had been book booked and all they could do is shrug their shoulders and blame us for their mistakes! We have never seen such an absolute disgusting service in our lives. The staff could not care what so ever and didn't apologise once.

So there we were at 6:00pm, 9 of us, nearly 200 miles from home, no place to sleep, no vacant hotels. So our only option was to cut my grans birthday weekend short, find somewhere to have a meal, and then drive home in the heavy illuminations traffic, which meant we arrived home at 1:00am in the morning. How a sick person suffering from cancer at the age of 70 could be treated like that, it's an utter disgrace.

DO NOT go to this hotel, they couldn't care less for the well-bring of their residents.

We will be following up the issues we endured further and if needs be will be taken to court.

Thanks for ruining our family weekend.

Dear guest thank you for your review of The Carousel Hotel. As with the previous review submitted with regards to the same incident, we are aware of the situation that arose during your stay and have been in contact with your party regarding this matter. As we have pointed out, you had made your booking for only one evening (not two), and this had been formally confirmed in writing prior to your arrival. During the Blackpool Illuminations all weekends are generally fully booked well in advance and we naturally have a duty to adhere to these reservations and fulfill our obligations to these guests. We were therefore unable to extend your stay to a 2nd night.

Our staff pride themselves on offering exemplary and friendly service and it is of utmost importance to us that we ensure that all guests have an enjoyable stay at our hotel. As stated, we regret that you were unhappy with our Reception Manager's response but we refute your suggestion that they responded in a manner that was unprofessional.

If your family return to Blackpool we will be pleased to assist in future reservations and do all we can to ensure you have an enjoyable stay.

Stayed at Carousel Hotel on 26th October (5 rooms). This was supposed to be a special birthday weekend for all my family. However, on 27th October we found that all our belongings had been packed in black bags and we were told that our rooms were needed by other guests. We were told that we had only booked for one night - although I have an e-mail that shows that in fact we were booked for two. To make matters worse, the staff were quite aggressive - especially the Hotel Manageress, and we were treated as if it was all our fault - which it wasn't. It completely ruined our weekend, as we couldn't find another hotel to stay in, so had to travel home after seeing the illuminations - which meant that it was early Sunday morning before we got home. I have never been treated like this at any hotel, and would advise anyone to double-check their booking because it is obvious that the Carousel Hotel staff make mistakes and then throw you out onto the streets saying it is your fault. Won't be using this hotel again!

I stayed there for 2 nights while on business. The rooms are clean and tidy but very small. The breakfast was reasonable. The food off the room sevice menu was ok the pizza was very mind. The biggest issue of all was parking and was a major headache. The staff were friendly. So on the whole ok but would probably not stay there again.

The hotel is literally 2 minutes walk from a tram stop that will take you any ware you could want on the beach front. Our room was clean, decent sized and had a fantastic sea view with a reasonably sized TV which was a pleasant surprise. We booked as a large party for a long weekend to see the lights and weren't disappointed on that end. Our Major gripe was that as other reviewers have said is that the walls are literally paper thin. We were right above their main function room and it was literally being in the party...only without the benefits. The party lasted till 1am, by which point the kids we’re so tired they actually cried themselves to sleep. This caused us problems for the remainder of the holiday because we were all catching up on sleep. After complaining we received about 50% of the cost as compensation which was very prompt. So my advice for anyone wanting to stay at the Carousel is to check before you book to see if there are any parties on first. If there is I’d go someplace else which is a shame because aside from this it’s a lovely place.

the carousel is a little too far out but trams run very frequentley.
rooms are very small and also very hot . we also found the hotel landings had a strange smell
and i found the bar area and entertainment lounge reminded me very much of shelterd housing accomodation for the elderly. breakfast was disorganised waited ages for toast and the hot water flasks are not a good idea this hotel is not worth eighty pounds per night .

Room Tip: too far out of town and smells weird not value for money rooms tiny and very warm.

Me and my partner stopped here only for 1 night. We was a little surprised just how far out it was but it wasn't a problem as the tram stop Is just across the road from the hotel. Got to say it's a well maintained hotel and clean, the drinks prices are a little high but I suppose you fond that in hotels. We got a room on the back and it was tiny and the shower was a joke all I will say is don't expect to get a shower as it's boiling hot water and can't get a happy medium, we reported it to reception but we felt like they weren't that interested and just wanted to carry on chatting between them, we paid £80 for 1 night which we thought wasn't bad but it would have been better if the shower was in working order.
