“Sunday afternoon”

Amazing. We have been here for the weekend and the Sunday was an amazing ending

The staff show (with a better budget) should tour. Kudos to mrs Noxi mrs pudsly and mr Jamie Clark

Only gripe with Sunday was DJ Carmen talking through the show stealing the lime light. But he'll she was funny in doing so.
Certainly coming on a Sunday again

“A gay disgrace.”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 8, 2013

Rough unkempt customers. Fithy toilets. Miserable bar staff. Lousy drinks served in plastic glasses. Charged to get in and for what ? No entertainment other than tired Drag DJ.
Gay pubs used to lead the way in style, service, entertainment and a right good time. Will not be rushing back.

“Could be so good”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 18, 2013 via mobile

Friendly, entertaining place. DJ Pudsley was great. Funny, quick witted and played good music. The only down side was the toilets. My husband went to the toilets and was horrified. The troughs where rusty and had food floating in them. There was pee all over the floors ans seats and poo and rust all over the toilets themselves. He said it was more hygenic not to touch anything not even to wash your hands. I avoided going to the ladies so cant comment on that.

“Needs a clean and some more hard wearing carpets / flooring”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2013

We visited this venue after being in Funny Girls so we got invited in for free. There really is a mix of people in here, gay, transvestites and straight. The atmosphere was very relaxed and people in here all got on just fine. However....the one thing that really lets this place down is that it is indeed very grubby. This place really does need a bloody good clean and a revamp. If it was made up and a bit more glam it would be so much better. The DJ Carmen was fabulous. Witty, played a various range of songs for the many ages and types of people who were there when we visited. The ladies toilets were worse than a public toilet, some disrespectful so and so had just peed all over the seat and floor. It could benefit from a regular check / clean throughout the night. The toilets definitely need a makeover, even the decor was out dated and so not fitting for a place with such a fabulous atmosphere. In the bar itself there seemed to be two sides to it, one side seemed to be mainly gay men, chatting and having a good time whilst the other seemed to be the more flamboyant stereotypical men, along with a few cross dressers, trannys, hen parties and whoever else was up for a dance and a good time. I would personally seek to get rid of the pool table. It didn’t seem to be used much and that area looked out of place (this may be different throughout the day). With a jolly good clean or refurb it could be such a different story, that said, we had such a good time I would still go back again. Everyone in there had a very good fun attitude, it was like I knew everyone in the place.

“well disappointed”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 27, 2013

What has happened to The Handbag??? I took my partner along and except for when we were out in the garden we were unable to talk to each other....the music was way too loud...for a bank holiday weekend there was a distinct lack of clientelle or atmosphere...not sure if we will be returning......although again without competition....what else would there be to do???
