Visited for a long weekend (3 nights HB); first impressions were good; warm welcome from friendly, helpful staff.
Good location with on site free parking, on the Promenade close to South Pier, bus and tram stops.

Hotel has a pool and Gym centre but we did not visit so can't comment.

Victorian Hotel needs a some TLC but was very clean with good beds, warm rooms, but basic bathroom.

Entertainment was first class, but evening meals were very very poor; I cannot understand how any Chef can serve such rubbish, cold food, (however the waiting staff very good).
I understand that the hotel is due a refurbishment, if so they also need to buy decent quality food served hot!

The new trams are fantastic and great value as are the buses; both staffed by friendly, very helpful, polite staff; a credit to Blackpool Transport.
Would I return? Maybe but only book B&B.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 208 which is on a corner with sea and promenade views,

We were a private party of 35 who had booked a "turkey and tinsel" break from Friday to Monday in Llandudno. At the 11th hour this holiday had to be cancelled due to a health problem in the Llandudno hotel.
Our coach operator, with only one days notice, offered the Queens hotel Blackpool as an alternative - and what a fantastic alternative it turned out to be. The hotel and staff could not have treated us better if we had been visiting royalty!
Okay, most of the rooms in the hotel are tired (indeed the hotel is to close on 2nd January for a two month refurbishment) but that didn't matter at all. From the moment we arrived (and were greeted personally by the hotel manager) the entire staff did everything they could to give us the weekend we thought we had lost. The food was excellent and plentiful with a good choice of menu and and restaurant service to match. The hotel also has a number of bars offering all you could want at excellent prices and with equally good service, as well as swimming and gym facilities for those who feel guilty about over-indulging.
The hotel's normal evening entertainment on Friday and Saturday evening was first class but the staff went to a huge amount of trouble to put on extra entertainment just for us on Sunday night and hosting a party with buffet, sparkling wine and a fabulous entertainer because they knew we were expecting something similar at our original venue. I cannot recommend this venue highly enough and, when the refurbishments are complete, we shall certainly be checking them out on a repeat visit.
This hotel was, until recently, a family-run business and the warm friendly feel that goes with that kind of business is still alive and well in the new version.
Altogether, well worth a visit!!

Room Tip: All rooms will have been refurbished when the hotel reopens in February 2013

Stayed here for a weekend in november.Small but clean room, plenty of creaking floor boards, which happens all through the hotel.Green bathroom suite, dated and had a bath but annoyingly no shower.Swimming pool opens at 8am water quite warm and regularly tested. In the male changing room theres only one shower and very limited coat hooks.Worth taking a pound coin with you for the lockers (returned) but check it works as some are worse for wear.Breakfast 8-9am so its a rush get from swimming pool to dinning room.We arrived 845 and got taken to a table where you are waited on. Food not best quality and probably tastes slightly better the earlier you go.We paid £64 for a twin room which was ok, but would have been dissapointed if paid more. The Queens is within easy walking distance to the Pleasure Beach and less than 10minutes to the tower, using one of the new impressive trams from accross the road.

Stayed here for long weekend beginning of november. positives....Check in was swift, bed small but comfy, perfect location and breakfast was served promptly with a smile and was plentiful. Staff were great, theatre bar great fun. Negatives... parking was tight and no way near enough spaces for the size of the hotel, rooms were cramped, shower room needed a total revamp and looked shabby, hot water was hit and miss. Floorboards were creaky everywhere and was a huge disturbance at night.

Myself and my partner spent a night at the Queens Hotel.(We were in Blackpool to see the lights). It was easy to find and is in an excellent location. We arrived at 4.30pm and were lucky to get a parking space,(I think we got the last one). The lady at reception was very pleasant and efficient. The room was a good size and the bathroom was clean with a shower and bath. The bed was very comfortable and we had a good night's sleep,(no noise at all) The flat screen TV was very good. In the Bar a pint of beer cost £3 and a glass of wine £3,20 - a bit expensive,( at Wetherspoons near the Tower you can get a pint for less than £2)
The dining-room is very nice and we had a lovely breakfast served by pleasant and efficient staff. We enjoyed our stay at the Queens and it was good value for money.I would definatly stay there again.

Room Tip: rooms on the third floor are quieter,(no noise from people walking about)

Stayed overnight after a friend recommended it for being "Proper Blackpool". We didn't expect much, but this place is seriously dreadful. The main problems were:
1. £84 a night for a room that looks like it hasn't been redecorated since 1985. I can't believe anyone would charge that when the wallpaper is peeling off the wall, the bedspread stinks and the pillows don't have pillowcases on. They insisted that we view the room before checking in, which didn't exactly fill us with confidence.
2. The hotel in general needs a full modernisation. The guests we saw didn't seem to mind the shoddy decor. Unfortunately we did.
3. Breakfast was hideous: full english looked like it had literally seen better days. The restaurant supervisor was rude and uncooperative. We wanted to sit at a table for six with our friends who were also staying there. Apparently this was totally impossible. His contempt for the guests is appalling. As is the food they serve. While I appreciate they have to cater for 100 or so rooms, the cost is way too high for the rock bottom quality.
4. Each and every floorboard in the building apparently creaks. We were woken constantly during the night by people moving about above and in adjacent rooms.
5. The heating was on so high that we had to sleep with the window wide open to counter the stifling heat. This was on a very cold night. Most guests seemed to be over 75, which perhaps accounts for the ridiculous heat.

Generally staff were pleasant, although a couple (Restaurant supervisor at Breakfast for one) were ill mannered and rude. In the entrance is an "Employee of the Month" award notice, dating from (I kid you not) 1996!!!! If you're wondering why no-one has been awarded this honour since then, stay at the Queens Hotel and all will make sense.

In a nut shell, avoid at all costs. I know that sounds harsh, but this hotel is grotty.
