“AB-fab revisited”
Reviewed October 2, 2009

This was our second visit to the Vidella Hotel in Blackpool and once again it ticked all the right boxes. We arrived early on Monday on our 3 day break to this fun hotel! We were greeted by John 2 and Neil who both remembered us from our last visit to the lights. John 2 is a knockout type of guy who loves a laugh and a giggle and the fun started from then on.We had a quick drink and went to our room (number 4) which suited our needs perfectly, it looked over my car which was arranged when we booked our room. Mrs M unpacked the case and put our kit away, the room was immaculately presented and the flat screen freeview tv was in the perfect position to watch whilst laid in the 4 poster bed.
After getting a wash and change we went to the bar for another light refreshment. John the part owner and Top Chef brought his beloved Great Dane in to see us, shes a lovely mild mannered giant that loves to be the centre of attention, it was then we found that this hotel is pet friendly and we will be taking advantage of this facillity in future visits. Dino greeted us with his usual vigure and style and he is a top host always giving you the time to chat and help if you need it.
You have to try Cascades, the food served there is amazing and totally delicious and I would like thank John for the experience of dining in his restaurant and John 2 for the fun whilst he was serving our table.
Brekkie is smashing and cannot be faulted in any way, you have the choice of juices, apple orange pineapple and grapefruit, cerials theres loads to pick from and then theres the fried breakfast, bacon, 2 sausages, egg, fried bread, beans, tomatoes and toast all with either tea or coffee. If your a special guest they might do Hash Browns if you ask nicely (thanks for that chaps)
I would just like to thank all the staff at the Vidella Hotel for a totally relaxing and fun filled time in the Hotel
John1, Neil, Dino, John2, Brian, Johnny, Karen and not forgetting Georgina the Dane you made our stay a very happy one again, keep up the good work and see you chaps again soon.

Arrived at the hotel, and manage to get a car parking space at the front, limited free parking.

Lets get the bad out of the way first.

Bedrooms not very clean and no house keeper came into our rooms all the 3 days we was there (we had 3 rooms) No wifi in our bedroom, needed to go into the bar where the router was. Dino did say it was on his list to do, to extend the range. Our shower head was broken, which inturn reduce the flow to a trickle.

With the house keeper not having been into our room, on the third day my wife had to go down and ask for clean towels and toilet rolls as we had run out. When we left to move onto Morecombe we left a mountain of mucky towels for them in the shower. Sorry

Now the good bits.

What great people work/run the hotel. They can not do enough for you, and always a smile on there face and always willing to spend time talking. Neil, Dino and John 2 was the best, and made the hotel change from being one we would not re-visit to one which we will go back.

Four page cocktail menu, complete with some names that makes you laugh while asking for them. When they pour the cocktails they give you well above the measure, and they do pack a punch.

Restaurant was great and to a very high standard. Waiter was John 2 and made us feel speical, good choice of wines, from cheap and cheerfull to full bodied red wine.

We will go back to this hotel, just because the people whom run/work the hotel deserve to make a go of there hotel. Nice guys, warm, pleasent and friendly, but get out the paint brushes and give the rooms a facelift. Do not let the bedrooms put you off if you want somewhere to crash out after the restaurant and cocktails, like we did.

PS Sack the house keeper, or get her some help.

No parking available. The room stunk of stale smoke and was generally unclean. The bed was terribly uncomfortable, i had springs in my ribs all night. In the morning we were greated by a large black beetle in the shower. Very disappointing.

Arrived early afternoon and managed to park immediately outside hotel (their private parking) although there are plenty of local car parks ask the lads for the best deal on long stay car parks. Stayed in Room 1 very spacious twin with ensuite shower room and loo. Room also had kettle, coffee and tea making facilities with gratis tea, coffee and biscuits. Large wardrobe with ample space and plenty of hangers.
No rush for breakfast choices of cereals, toast and or full English, with tea or coffee and or orange juice.
Good well stocked bar (well it was until we got there - lol), soft drinks, beers, spirits and cocktails - possibility of national shortage of sherry due to Amber!!
Opted for a late check out - which included Sunday Dinner - plenty of variety - well presented locally sourced produce. Absolutely Yummy.
Staff - eh!!? Well what can I say - what an absolute fab bunch of blokes + young lady (breakfast waitress) - you had a lot to put up with!!
I would recommend the Vidella to anyone - we will be visiting again soon.
Also pets welcome, wouldn't have known that there were dogs in the hotel if hadn't of seen them being taken out, no noise no odours - btw they have a lovely Great Dane - Georgie!!

If you are the kind of person that likes to take a hot shower in your hotel then this is certainly not the hotel for you.

My Girlfriend and I booked this hotel for 2 nights but we moved after the first night as the room we had was terrible.
The most annoying thing was the complete lack of hot water in our room (there were a number of guests complaining about this at the time of our stay and apparently there was a known 'boiler problem') secondly the cold tap in the bathroom didn't work, but this wasnt a problem as the hot tap worked perfectly for this purpose. Thirdly the television had no signal at all so was rendered un-watchable.

Our bedsheets also smelled damp and were not very pleasant to sleep in. Oh and the lock on the bathroom door refused to work and the door kept swinging open on its own accord so we ended up having to put an object infront of the door when using the toilet!

Our friends also stayed in this hotel and had none of the problems we had so it is obviously a bit hit and miss as far as room quality goes. Although they did say the en-suite was tiny.

On the plus side the staff were friendly and the breakfast was reasonably good.

To conclude I wouldn't stay in the Vidella again and due to the problems we had I don't recommend it, but if you do decide to stop here you may be lucky and get a decent room.
