“Lovely Friendly Hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 28, 2012

We booked last minute so weren't sure what to expect. Needn't have worried as we had a lovely warm welcome from the new management where nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast and evening meal (very reasonably priced) were of a good standard. The room was really clean and comfortable and offered excellent value for money! Would definitely recommend and would stay again if in the area. 10 our of 10!

Room Tip: We had a back room and it was very peaceful

We stayed here for 4 days from 19th October. Easy check in, Jay was very welcoming. Rooms were very clean, spacious, smelt nice and we immediately felt comfortable. Meals are self service kath our waitress was funny and efficient. Great staff the manager Robert has, he couldn't do enough for you, what a lovely man! Stephen on the bar was a right comedian too. Would definitely return and recommend to friends and family. Thank you Robert for making us so welcome.

We stayed at the Chequers Plaza on the 23rd October. We didn't check in until late that evening, but the chap who was covering reception and also the bar was very pleasant. Our room was very clean, including the en-suite and the shower was exceptionally good. The hotel was quiet with not many guests when we were there so breakfast next morning wasn't buffet style but the pleasant receptionist served our breakfast to us. This was very good and piping hot and served on hot plates, which isn't always the case in some establishments, it makes such a huge difference. The only slight downside is that some of the decor on the stairs and corridors needs updating. However our bedroom was nicely decorated and the bed was extremely comfortable and spotlessly clean. Also, the details of the hotel stated that there would be toiletries provided, so we didn't take shampoo or shower gel, but the bathroom just contained soap. We would probably stay again.

Room Tip: Our room was at the side, but we still had a view of the sea and some of the illuminations.

After being let down badly by Britannia hotels at the last minute, we had to find another hotel quickly and found accommodation at the Chequers Plaza. From the first telephone call to them you could sense that customer service was at the forefront.
Upon arrival, check in was very efficient and the very helpful manager gave lots of advice on transport to and from the hotel.
The whole place was decorated well and nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff that we came in contact with. Our rooms on the third floor were very comfortable with a great view. On the Sunday night, entertainment was provided without charge and bar prices were very reasonable.
The evening meal and buffet breakfast was fresh with lots of choice on hand.

We only stayed one night but I am definitely going to be staying there again.
A big thank you to all the staff there for being so friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Even the rooms on the front are quiet so a good nights sleep can be had.

Blackpool is not out favourite place if we're honest but this year it was out daughter's first time seeing the Illuminations, so we booked the weekend of Friday28th September - Monday 1st October.

We booked a family room which was spacious and clean but basic; to be honest, that wasn't a problem - we weren't living there! The staff were wonderful (especially Vivienne); always more than happy to help and very friendly - even cooking us dinner when the chef had gone home for the night. Our daughter was a big fan too!

We only had breakfasts at the hotel (no main meals) and there were lovely. Traditional cooked English Breakfasts on buffet carts where you could help yourself. Good selection of fruit and cereal too.

If we go back to Blackpool again, this is where wewould be staying.

booked well in advance and requested 2 rooms with a sea view..... got 2 side rooms with a kind of view my room was ok tea and coffee making facilities poor and the cups were dirty from the last occupier. no non slip mat in the bath so be careful when taking a shower!! toilet needed bleach and the seat was loose so was the hot water tap. the bar staff saturday night consisted of 1 that seemed to be doing everything so service was slow, poor choice of beer on tap 1 beer 1 lager and 1 cider and had run out of ice the beer we did get was watery and flat, and only 1 flavour of crisps. buffet style breakfast ran out of certain things twice and had t run after a member of staff to re-fill the trays tomatoes burnt bacon way to salty and the scrambled eggs where swimming in liquid. be prepared for a very long walk to the main strip as the running of trams is pathetic!!! value for money was ludicrous considering and will not be back

Room Tip: pick a different hotel is my only tip
