I will start by saying I am so so glad we stayed here.

Yes it is probably one of the most expensive hotels in Blackpool, but there are good reasons for that !

We (4 adults and a child) booked a Superior Double and a family room for 2 nights.
Parking was at the hotel and the check in was simple.
Only thing I did find a bit strange was when I was asked how I would like to settle my bill "I haven't stayed yet" was my response...
Apparently they are having a trial period of doing this so that come Sunday morning there aren't queues of people waiting to check out !
We were on the 3rd floor with a partial sea view.
The rooms were immaculate, spacious, bathroom was gorgeous and the heated towel rail was a nice touch, powerful shower, a huge bed that was one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in, lounge area with chairs and a fireplace.
Plenty of space to hang clothes and store bags, lots of tea/cofffee/chocolate & biscuits.

Braved the delights of Blackpool on the Friday night and was very pleased when we got back to the hotel !
I had read on previous reviews that the hotel restaurant was very good and so booked in there on the Saturday night.
We were not disapointed - the food was amazing !
Quite pricey compared to the slop served along the front, but then we were prepared to pay for decent food !

The hotel is right on the pleasure beach and a good 20 minute walk to the town/tower. Although you can take the tram/bus/taxi/horse if you don't fancy the walk.
The horse & cart have a set charge of £20 - no matter where you start from or go to !
The tram was about £9 for 5 of us and a taxi about £7...

The hotel breakfast was of a high standard.
All self service and we didn't have to wait for a table.
If you try and get a table after 8.30 on Saturday or Sunday you will have to wait.
Choice of several cereals, pastries, fruit, yoghurt and all the usual 'English' breakfast items.

All in all this hotel was the best part of our 2 night stay in Blackpool. I would not have entertained any of the other hotels we saw on our travels .

We paid £99 for a 2 night special in September, and for this price the hotel was good value. We booked a double room and were given a family room, which was fine and gave us a bit more space.
The good points to the room were: nice bathroom, plently of tea/coffee/hot chocolate/biscuits, plently of hangers and storage space, DVD and TV, good view of the pleasure beach, air conditioning, good kids area, good parking, friendly helpful staff.
The worst point was the bed, which was particularly disappointing after reading previous reviews. The base was broken on one side so it touched the floor. It had 2 single matresses pushed together, both of which were completely broken and when you laid down they both sunk in the middle, so much that your body seemed to touch the base. This resulted in a hard ridge down the middle of the bed. We would expect more of any standard hotel but if we had paid the full price of £170 per night we would have been extremely unhappy.
Although the pleasure beach opens at midday there is some noise from 8am as maintenance is carried out including staff talking to each other through loud speakers. It was also annoying that the south entrance was locked and so you couldn't cut through from the hotel to the pleasure beach.
Overall, for £99 the hotel was a higher standard than a similarly priced travelodge or premier inn, but is definately not worth the full price.

This is the second time we stayed at this hotel and it's been a complete pleasure each time.
First time we went we stayed in the deluxe family room, this time it was the superior. Only difference, bunk bed for our daughter was smaller but that's no problem, she's only 10.
Our youngest is only 13 months and from heating up food for her or supplying warm milk, nothing was too much trouble for these guys. They are so helpful and friendly.
The breakfast is excellent, especially suited to the fussy types like my husband who doesn't eat a lot in the mornings.
It's not the cheapest and the walk can be a bit much but who cares, I don't mind paying for the pleasure of being treated like a valued customer.
We will defininately be back and we can't wait.

We stayed for two nights and all we can say is that it was fantastic.

All the staff are very friendly and only to happy to help. They also all look very stylish in their uniforms. The hotels general manger is particularly worth a mention for the personal attention he gives.

The room was fantastic. It was clean and very comfortable. It's the little details in the room that make this hotel a mark above the usual chain hotels.

We have eaten in the restarant before, and everytime it surpasses the time before. The food there is delicious. The choice is great and you always have to plump for one thing while making a mental note of what your going to have next time.

All in all, it is THE best hotel in Blackpool.... if not Lancashire

Just back from a 2 night stay at the Big Blue Hotel and feeling a bit disappointed. We stayed here 2 years ago and it really was fantastic, sadly though the standards have slipped.
Located right by the Pleasure Beach it is handy for the southern end of Blackpool. A tram in cost about £4.50 for 3 of us or £10 in a taxi. The car park had plenty of room when we arrived on the Friday.
Checking in was easy and the reception area is nice. We were on the 4th floor so needed to use the lift, we only found 2 and they were always busy. The room itself was in need of re-decoration. The walls were scuffed, nail varnish spilt on the sink area, blood on the shower curtain and the duvet on the bunk bed was dirt stained - we didn't need to use it. We then found the last holiday makers dirty sock on the floor - nice! The chairs had something that looked like chocolate melted on them - at least I hope that's what it was. I did book a superior family room so wondered what the less superior rooms might be like! There were tea and coffee making facilities and plenty of biscuits/milk. The kids bunk beds were v small. There is a game of snakes and ladders on the wall in the room which my son enjoyed.
The bathroom was nice but the shower did not have much water pressure on the first morning. The room had a hairdryer and plenty of plug sockets.
Breakfast was acceptable. Complaints would be that you have to queue up and then have about a 15 minute wait for a table. With the cooked breakfast I went through 4 plates in the pile until I found a clean one. The muffins were lovely the first morning, warmed up. There is a good choice of cereal, fruits etc and it is all self service. There is a long queue for the toast maker.
The staff were all pleasant. The hot choclate is lovely that they serve at the bar, can highly recommend that!
We won't be going again as I feel that it is an expensive hotel and attention to detail has gone. So will try to find another hotel for our next trip. A shame as it has the potential to be stunning

My husband and I stayed for 3 nights at this Hotel. This was our first visit to the Big Blue Hotel and found it to a most enjoyable stay. On arrival the reception staff were friendly and most helpful. We found the deluxe room to be most comfortable and clean, the easy chairs and foot rests were greatly appreciated after a long day walking around. We enjoyed an early breakfast, enabling us to get the most out of our days in Blaclpool The room and en-suite bathroom were spacious, clean, and well designed. We look forward to our next visit to the Big Blue Hotel
