“Disappointed”
Reviewed October 24, 2013

We booked the hotel for my mum's 70th birthday trip to see the lights. We stayed in Room 3 which had a very comfortable bed. However the radiator did not come on the second night. The radio in the room did not work nor did the light above the bed. My parents stayed in Room 16 which was very small. We purposely booked a sea view room but the window was tiny. Again the radiator did not come on the second night. The plug socket which served the kettle was not working and they had to put it on top of the wardrobe where there was a working socket. Again the radio did not work in this room. We all thought the breakfast was poor and ate at Weatherspoons the second morning. The room in which the breakfast was served was very hot and had disco music blarring. The website for the hotel was very good.

Nobody believe a word of this review as these four persons had breakfast both mornings, we can even tell you what you ate, TWO Poached egg on toasts and TWO Full English Breakfasts.
So no more to be said about this review.

Booked the Rockcliffe Hotel via internet when looking for a short break.
Stayed Sunday October 20th for 2 nights
From the moment I got a speedy reply to my email I sensed that this was a place we had to try.
Booked Room 6 for a 2 night break. Great room with great bay windows to look over the sea. Sunsets must be lovely, pity it rained all the time.
From the moment we arrived you could tell that everything was going to be just perfect.
Greeted by Peter with a warm and friendly smile. Was told that if there was anything we needed all we had to do was ask.
Free parking, warm room, great food, what more could you ask for.
My wife had trouble with the stairs on our second day, this was soon sorted by Fiona. She gave us our breakfast in our room to save her having to use the stairs. Thanks Fiona, she now wants that at home!!
Will be back to this Hotel as soon as possible.
Why look anywhere else once you have found a Hotel like this.

Room Tip: Pick Room 6 for the views from the bay window

We arrived on 14th Oct 2013 for 3 nights. We were given keys to room 3 and unpacked we had to offer to pay a couple of times before payment was taken. Room clean and very warm, shower hot and water was forceful, free parking and bar every night. Happy days close to everything you need. Price paid well worth it. Go back anytime

We have just returned home today after taking 3 young children to this hotel. Peter parked our car in his garage as there was no room at the front of the hotel which I thought was really good. Our breakfast was on time on both mornings and the owners and staff could not have been nicer to our grandchildren. The room was adequate and we had no complaints. The children really liked Peter and the staff and children do not take to people who are not friendly. Overall I would use this hotel again.

This was a last minute booking. We enjoyed ourselves very much and will quite likely return. The room which had an extra bed for our son was nice and the bar area is good with a nice view if the sea and of the lights when they came on. Breakfast was good and my son was delighted to get pancakes.

Parking is a bit tricky which is obviously not the hotels fault but be prepared to search around for a while for a space. BE WARNED the parking wardens work all hours!
