Incrediable day - totally ruined by the rain. As a zoo, it is of course all outdoors. Was bitterly disapointed cos it is amazing zoo all open very few fences. A lot of the enclosures are sunken so your looking into them. Shows and feeds every hour too! Do not miss the sea lions - my little one was left speechless quite a novelty!! The bird show was cancelled due to rain but when the keeper saw us waiting he done a little private show, bringing the birds out for us to see and we even petted an owl. The children's farm was a bit sad but overall amazingly good value - half the price of most attractions (£15 each - they took concessionary bus pass as proof of disabilty so I paid £8) tea is reasonable at £1.50 - cafe of course very expensive. Lovely picnic tables inside the huts where you can see the animals and eat in the dry. Highly reccomended

“One of the better zoos to visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 6, 2013

I was last at the zoo about 7 years ago and it has really changed in many ways it used to be all open in the centre with everything around the outside but it has now been very well planted with trees and the gorilla enclosure is terrific, they are building a new area for their orang-utans and if the other improvements are anything to go by it will be well worth waiting for. Its very easy to get to the zoo I find the best way is No 20 bus from the town centre and there are 4 an hour to return

“Loved it.”

I always love visiting zoos, I guess it takes me back to my childhood. This was however, one of the best days out ever. The animals are terrific , so well looked after for. The crowds were not too bad and everything at the zoo was so clean. Litter was non existent. What a great place to bring your children to. Safety is excellent here. And the staff are very caring. Great day out!

Brilliant zoo. Loads to see and lots of room to navigate pram. Great sea lion show and our little one loved the children's zoo and getting to pett some of the animals. Usual cafe facilities available and large picnic area which we used and brought our own food. A great day out, would recommend and will visit again.

An altogether good day out.
We visited here on our Tesco vouchers otherwise it could be a little costly.
A good variety of animals to look at. In particular the monkeys are a favourite with the children and the hi light has to be the Seal show.
Refreshments very expensive as per usual.
Daddy s taking you to the zoo tomorrow......well maybe once a year s enough!
