staff on bar very frendly and the hotel looked very busy and there was a mix of ages.

Many old hotels exude a certain charm, but this, unfortunately, isn't one of them. Its best days are clearly a distant memory, and the whole place just feels tired. You almost feel a bit sorry for it.

Our room was far from expensive, but there were niggles everywhere. A broken lock on the bathroom door, filthy windows, a warm fridge, two different-sized mattresses masquerading as a king size bed and, somewhat bizarrely, a latex glove hanging from the fire alarm. It was completely inexplicable - the ceilings aren't low, by any stretch.

As we were on a room-only basis, we enquired about breakfast the following morning. Thinking it would probably end at 10:30-11ish, we headed down at 10 and paid the slightly confused lady the going rate, which wasn't cheap. She then proceeded to show us to our table, before informing us service had finished 10 minutes earlier. We proceeded to help ourselves to the dregs that remained, without being offered any tea or coffee. The standard of food was poor at best, so our tardiness meant we probably hadn't missed out on much, though had we been told we were late before we'd paid, we wouldn't have had to subject ourselves.

On leaving, we attempted to make our way out but the carpet fitter was blocking the hallways, so escape was becoming a challenge. He informed us there was likely to be another stairwell behind us, and on retracing our steps, we saw the sign for a fire escape. It wasn't pretty. As we traversed our way down a dirty stairwell and through a somewhat neglected (and not particularly fresh smelling) kitchen, my girlfriend cut her arm badly on the upturned tables that seemed to block every other exit, but eventually, we found our way out.

It couldn't come soon enough. We won't be staying there again.

We arrived at roughly 8pm and there were no parking spaces therefore we had to find a space at the back of the hotel. The reception was decorated lovely and staff were also nice and helpful. Room was nice and bed was comfy. We also had a meal in the restaurant where to food was delicious and price reasonable. Great location in Blackpool. I would definitely stay again and also recommend.

Stayed at this hotel x 3 and it is improving all the time since it's return to the Puma Hotel group. On previouse visits I felt that the Hotel needed a good clean and that it was becoming more rundown than ever with water leaks in stair wells ect, but not this time. Staff are very freindly and always willing to held even when very busy like this weekend when they were hosting the world pool championships.

only complaint was that guest smoke under the canopy of the front door and this did put me off as the smell was not moving away from that area, not a good welcome.

Room Tip: if you can get an outside room this is best as the ones that look into the courtyard are not good as...

Didn't expect too much, to be honest ... but the Imperial Hotel was a huge surprise! Beautiful old building, large car park (reasonable at only £3.50 per night), at the quieter end of town - really nice, warm welcoming atmosphere. Had 2 kids with us, everyone was so friendly and genuinely helpful.
Family room was perfect, massive double bed and 2 singles, plus a travel cot.
Was exactly what we needed for 2 nights, so pleased we chose The Imperial - looking at some of the other places along the front we made the best choice!
It wasn't luxurious but we didn't expect it to be - but very well maintained, clean, spacious rooms with a wee fridge which was a massive help (always a problem keeping baby milk in hotel rooms).
Used the pool twice during our stay, changing rooms and pool area are really clean and lovely. Nice to have loungers by the pool and be offered plastic bags for wet swimming gear - the staff were excellent.
Not sure why anyone would complain about the Imperial - looks like the nicest hotel in Blackpool. We found it to be much more than we expected and were delighted - so maybe some people just have high expectations?! It's Blackpool, for goodness sake - luxury is going to be hard to find! Blackpool itself was pretty awful, apart from the promenade which has been transformed and is really pleasant. If we return, we'll definitely stay at The Imperial. And we'll eat there next time.
Even the pool championships didn't affect our stay - just made the hotel buzz even more.
Really pleased and very impressed.

Room Tip: ask for a sea view room, we faced the back of the hotel and had a view of garages and car wash

We booked through Expedia, but were not told that the worldPool championship was on,otherwise I would not have booked. It was heaving with people, officials, cue cases,a lot of smoking at the entrance, not good at all.We made the best of it the breakfast was not the best, but plenty of choice. The food in the evening was very good and the staff very nice.Car parking was a nightmare because of all the pool thing etc.I will not book again with Expedia unless they can guarantee a nice bedroom ,we were on the 4 th floor.I'm afraid Blackpool is now a bit down market so I don't know if we will return.

Room Tip: Book a sea view and 1 st. Floor.

Very good hotel, convinient located. We have a room on the 4th floor with a big double bed and two single beds, the room was large with good furniture in front of the sea so we can see it in the small window. Child friendly hotel, during check in our son received a present with pencils, games and ets. Tasty and rich breakfast on the ground floor. Parking just on the hotel area (3,5 pounds per night). Great swiming pool with jacuzzi. We had an amasing day at pleasure beach which is about 15 minutes by tram from the hotel (my son liked it more than Disneyland at Paris and Port Aventura at Spain, because there wasn't too much people and there are a lot of different rides). Although we have prebook the room for 2 adults and a child with breakfast, the hotel charge us 3,5 pounds for our son's breakfast during check out.

Room Tip: Choose the room with the sea view))
