Came to town last weekend for a 2-night stay connected with the Northern Premier League AGM & Dinner.
Arrived at 3pm on Friday afternoon and no problem whatsoever with check-in by a friendly staff member. Having read some of the reviews, I approached by room (on the highest floor - 7) with a degree of trepidation...
What a pleasant surprise! I had been allocated a twin, which was clean with comfy beds and a fantastic view right along the Golden Mile. Also, a selection of complimentary toiletries, fridge and ample sized bathroom. I really couldn't fault it. However, I strongly suspect that the 7th floor has been fairly recently refurbished and is the best that the hotel offers. This was borne out after I viewed a colleague's accommodation on a lower floor (4), which was not as good.
Breakfast was pretty chaotic and not befitting a 4* rated place. Nevertheless, it was most definitely adequate and you shouldn't leave hungry. Likewise the food at the Gala Dinner on the Saturday night was perfectly fine. I have had far, far worse at similar events.
To summarise, I encountered no problems at all with this establishment and it is an honest 4 out of 5 from me! If you do stay here, I strongly recommend you try to get a sea view room on floor 7.More
