I have just returned from a weekend at the Blackpool Hilton.

It has to be one of the ugliest hotels in Blackpool (and that is saying something!) and the architect should never work again. It's a dreadfully ugly building with all the attraction of a public toilet BUT having said all that, it had a very large car park and it was one of the better Hilton hotels I have stayed in.

My room had a notice on the door: CLUB ROOM. I feared this might mean that lots of us might be sharing it but no worries.

It was an adequate size (I would really expect larger in a Hilton) but as I was on my own it was ok. There were twin beds and the bedding was clean and comfortable, as was the bed.

There was plenty of cupboard and wardrobe space with iron, ironing board, bathroom hairdryer AND one in the drawer with a diffuser! :-)
There were tea and coffee facilities and internet access (£15 for 24 hrs)

The fitments were in good condition as was the carpet.

The bathroom was perfectly adequate with lots of nice toiletries, tissues and white fluffy towels.

My room had a lovely sea view and I could watch the waves pounding on the prom at high tide (weather not so good!)

I had a great view of a fireworks display on Friday evening.

Breakfast was very good, lots of choice and plenty of tables.

Snacks in the lounge bar were somewhat expensive - but nice.

The swimming pool was adequate size and very nice.

The situation at the north end of Blackpool is quite good and trams plough past with great regularity.

All in all if you *have* to stay in Blackpool (I was there for a conference) then the Hilton is a decent hotel to stay. The south end of Blackpool looks seedy and dilapidated and there are large gangs of single sex parties on stag/hen nights which would be quite offputting if one was looking for a family holiday.

Stayed one night last week as a stopover travelling south on holiday. The hotel was nice enough but not as central as I expected. The staff on reception were friendy, and the evening meal was superb. The room was very spacious and clean, however it was rather tatty, especially the bathroom. There was hairs in the sink when we arrived and the bath panel was very chipped. The shower head was quite worn around the fixings and there wasnt enough towels. The TV didnt work properly, however the staff at reception did try and help but we gave up. For a normal hotel it was good, For the Hilton it was poor

just returned from hilton for a two night stay.we booked with late rooms and got a really good deal.we thought the room would maybe be in need of updating with not booking with hotel, not so .our room was everything you would expect from a five star hotel ,the bed would have fit three people in it was that big.only thing i would say is in a five star hotel you have five star prices,so eat and drink else were unless you get a good deal when booking, our deal inclued breakfast but if not would have been £15 each.coffee in the bar was almost £3.the bus and tram stop at the front of hotel and go into centre of blackpool in no time at all.

As usual in Blackpool it was friendly but incompetent. The hotel is undergoing a refurb. we had a pre rather than post reburbished room, which was shabby and grubby. There was a mix up on checking in, no breakfast, included, which would have added an outrageous £29 per day for 2. There was a real flap on in the dining room at breakfast for no apparent reason as they were very well staffed. There was a problem checking out, tried to charge me again for a pre-paid booking. Lovely sea view though.

Booked with Tesco Clubcard. Two nights B&B. Total cost for a family of 4 in one room was 280 pounds.

The great thing was the children stayed free. Our room was on the 2nd Floor and was a really good size. The bed was massive, three of us could have slept in it! Their was also a sofa made up into a bed and a camp bed for my daughter. The bathroom was decorated to a high standard as well, but the do have very small baths! Could upgrade the TVs to flat screens to give a little more luxury feel otherwise really nicely presented. Also we were placed at the rear of the hotel so had no sea view but didn't mind.

Enjoyed the use of the pool, steam room and sauna. Good opening hours and luckily never busy as it has been mentioned that the changing rooms are small. Really nice touch with the expensive toiletries as well.

Breakfast was super, lots of choice and friendly staff. Didn't stay for dinner as would have been expensive for the 4 of us at 22 pounds pp. But it did look nice but not worth the price!

Also could be a long wait for the lifts esp as one was out of order but as we were on a low floor it didn't matter.

Lovely hotel to relax in.
