I had a single/twin room which was a decent size, the bed was fine and I had a view overlooking the sea. My grandparents had a double room which was tiny and the bed was just pushed up against the wall, so whoever slept on that side had to climb over the other. The rooms were decent enough though, but were very warm.

It was ridiculously busy and full of very old people. Normally not an issue, but there was only one small elevator and there was always a mile long queue of old people trying to get on. I have no sense of smell, but was informed that the elevator stunk. Breakfasts weren't great and the restaurant was always full. Staff were pretty unfriendly and at one point I went back up to my room to find the cleaner using my toilet.

I know it's not the hotel's fault, but all the old guests were very rude and always seemed lost and confused (at one point, an old lady got stuck in the revolving door and kept going round and round shouting 'I can't get out!'). It felt like being in a mental institution at times, not a good atmosphere at all.

The location is decent, overlooking the sea, and there's a tram just outside. It is however, quite a far walk from places to eat (with only a fish and chip shop and a Chinese restaurant around the corner) and the buffet offered at the hotel is not worth the price.

Plenty of better options in Blackpool.

Arrived at half seven, took thirty minutes to get to reception. People were being pulled out of the queues to be sent for food as they had stopped serving.

They insisted on taking our money before we could see the room, when we got to the room we discovered why.

Walking past vacuum cleaners abandoned on the stairs filthy carpet and safety doors wedged open we got to our room.

Aerial cable across the floor, TV on a beaten up old table too small for it, insulating tape holding skirting boards on, wallpaper peeling off, window frosted so you couldn't see outside, open wrappers on the bath pictures of naked women on the wall and NO FIRE EVAVUATION NOTICE.

We had to go out for food so simply dropped our bags and walked out for tea.

We got back to the room and there were three tea bags so phoned for some more, oh we don't deliver to your room.

Wife went to get some and point out the state of the room 'oh we could move you but that's one of our good rooms'.

So we put up with it, woke to find the reason for the frosted glass, room was next to the service area where they were rolling bins and trolleys from eight am.

Massive queues for breakfast but the only friendly helpful member of staff ran the restaurant and he pointed us to a food galley being set up in the corridor so we went and got some food, which was ok.

Got bags and went to reception, massive queue, we tried to get someone's attention but they were all huddled around one machine laughing whilst the queue grew.

We simply dropped the key and left.

DO NOT STOP AT THIS HOTEL it does not represent Blackpool it is simply an archaic throw back that needs a massive renovation and staff that actually care, more a transit camp than a Hotel.

Huge hotel. Needs complete overhaul.

Having said that our room was clean and beds comfortable. Draw falling apart but reported it and they fixed it. Top fell off of tap and just missed my foot.

Food we felt was fine, tasty and plenty of it. Bit of a scrum to get it, as so many people.

Staff very helpful

Again heard a lot of adverse comments after booking, but hey ho it was booked on the day a last minute booking. Fantastic price, basic room, comfortable bed, clean - bathroom/shower was fine as was toilet. No problems checking in, a lil downside was we were directed to the room and had to sort the maze of corridors - then the key card didn't operate so back down to reception who were helpful. Bar/Conservetory had entertainment - fantastic! ok it could do with a lick of paint here n there but didn't expect the value for money we had. As for breakfast - we were lucky with our timing. No queue's hot n tasty food - a lil disappointed no fried egg but scrambled surficed although it was the ready mix type. Around 9am it was busy and guests queueing - but if you do leave it late what else do you expect. Would definitely visit and stay there again :)

This hotel does need a face lift but look beyond the tired decor you get a comfortable place to stay. Room was clean and warm. food very good, self service is not everyone's cup of tea but you get the portion you want. Entertainment good standard with a cinema too showing 3 films a day.
Lovely pool and spa area -also gym if you are so inclined.

Our first impression wasn't brilliant as we had to queue at reception, but another girl came on duty so we got checked in OK. You certainly lose weight here, as we had the longest walk through the corridors to our room ( 223) of any hotel that I've ever stayed in outside of Las Vegas.
The room was clean with a side view and comfy bed.The entertainment was good, and bar prices OK with a nice wine promotion. The breakfast was the most 'voluminous' operation I have experienced that banged out good quality food with military precision. This is a well run hotel catering for the mass market and doesn't really deserve the 'hammering' it has had from previous reviews. Go there and enjoy.

Room Tip: Arrive in a wheelchair; you might not need the walking boots to get to your room.

Stayed at this hotel for the last 3 years for a few days golfing holiday. It was good that it included golf every day as it is not a hotel to stay at for a normal holiday.
Extremely bad odours coming from the drains in the lifts ,corridors and stairs as well as the toilets.
Everything seemed to be done on the cheap including a prize bottle of wine given having been previously opened.!
Entertainment 2nd class and same as last years. Staff very unhelpful.
Needs a lot of refurbishment and alterations. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
