Booked for New Year break with friends at the last minute and as it was such a great price was quite worried about it. Thankfully did not read reviews before we went. Yes, it is a little tired and a bit cold but having so many guests must be quite difficult to maintain. Our rooms were a little old fashioned but spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Good job rooms well signposted or we'd still have been going round in circles. Food good (gala dinner excellent), entertainment very good, price excellent. The best New Year we've had in ages but of course you can't please everyone and we may be back next year!!

If you want the authentic Blackpool experience including a glimpse into psyche of regular Blackpool goers then this is the place for you. I was in Blackpool on business and booked this hotel for 2 nights mid week. I booked into the hotel after a days work and the only reason I stayed was because it was late and raining heavily. I didn't hang around and booked out first thing the next morning, the receptionist didn't even question why I was leaving a day early (I can only assume this happens a lot) and happily only charged me for one night.
I don't think the mattress or the bedding had been changed since the hotel had originally opened.
If there had been bars on the windows it would have felt just like a prison themed hotel apart from the fact that you could smoke indoors, which I think the previous guests/inmates had taken full advantage of.
Don't expect to use the lift if you happen to arrive at the same time as a coach load...you can only fit approx 5 normal sized people at a time.
This is a geriatric hotel for geriatric guests or people who don't know any better.

Just returned from a two night stay at the Norbreck Castle Hotel with National Holidays. There was 21 coaches from this company and 8 from another company all arriving on the same day. We were expecting the worse and couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised. The staff dealt brilliantly with the amount of customers. Our room keys and meal instructions etc had all been pre-prepared so getting to our rooms was easy. The room was clean and warm with a spa bath as a bonus. Food was very good. As a vegetarian i only had one choice each night but both meals were excellent and brought promptly to the table when i'd finished my starter. Breakfast was also good. With entertainment on each night, a swimming pool and sauna this turned out to be a very enjoyable weekend.
