“Good start to bad finish”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 6, 2013

Went there on. Thursday 3rd Jan till Sunday 6th. The room we were given was away along the farthest corner on the hotel, this was the better of the rooms as it had been refurbished. The room itself was ok but the television was on a very low stand which was not watchable if in bed, there was only one chair for two guests. I opened the curtains and the view was a small wall and a lot of ventilation pipes right outside the window, I asked at the reception if the hotel was full and if we could change rooms to one with a front sea view, the lad gave me a key for another room which although dated and tired was ok for our needs. We moved rooms and settled in. The bad was really hard and i would have had a better sleep on the floor. The food was always good with no complaints, always hot and plentiful. The only issue I had was that the guests who had arrived through the tour operators got first sittings on the dinner table. The bar could not decide what to charge, on. Thursday a pint cost £3.50p on Friday £3.25p. Get a grip and be consistent. The entertainment was good, both singers and the 3 dancers were very good.
The ballroom had 2 bars, one for cash and one for all inclusive guests. 3 serving all inclusive and a 5 minute wait for cash sales. Be fair, we all pay. I will go back later in the year.

Room Tip: Check out the beds,

where to start, heated pool freezing, rooms grubby, food mass produced and poor, restaurant, staff unhelpful, breakfast cold (told it was my imagination?) came down for breakfast, taken to a table with dirty stained tablecloth, when I asked for a more hygenic table, I was advised that if I wanted a clean table I should have come down for breakfast earlier,
Website shows two pool tables in gamesroom, they do not exist??, Booked for new years eve, when we asked about evening meal, advised cost of £49 each, no alternalive take it or leave it, ate out instead,
Very poor hotel, cannot really find anything good to say about it, will not be gotng back.

Room Tip: do not go there

Just come back from a new year break. We didn't book until Christmas Eve and read reviews on here and some did worry me. Check in went well. Staff very friendly. Room was fine. Ok not modern but let's face it we didn't pay ultra modern prices. The food was good. The hotel was full but the staff handled it well. Gala dinner was really well organised and the entertainment kept everybody in a party mood. Ok the one thing I do agree with. The coffee was bad.

Would I stay again yes I will do

My parents have been going here for New Year for the past 5 years so when they asked me to accompany them this year as part of my Dads birthday celebrations I agreed, despite me knowing that the New Years Eve party is probably not my thing. They loved it and looked forward to it every year but this year, something has clearly gone wrong.

There were mistakes about the booking, including a letter saying tickets had been dispatched, only for them to go to the wrong address. When we did get the 'tickets' it turned out to be a receipt for tickets to be picked up at site. On arrival, we went to pick up said tickets to be told that they dont even do tickets for the Gala dinner and that we were now checked in and there was no problem. So off we went to the dinner, no record of us at all and we got shoved onto an empty table at the back of the room with no cutlery and no waiter assigned to us. We had to ask for the table to be set and when someone came to do this they carried the bread in their hand and the butter in their pocket! Highly classy :/ Then the proceeded to jam the butter knife into my chest as they set the table. Fantastic. The food was bareable, the drink prices too much and the entertainment poor. We got poured tea and coffee but were offered no milk, my Mum had to go looking for a waitress to ask for some and we were treated like a nuisance. On clearing tables, the waitress dropped a fork, which fell onto my brother, she did apologise but did she bother picking it up?? Did she hell!

The hotel itself, you get this feeling that it used to be grand, but its clearly not seen an injection of cash for a long time and this is a little sad. The amenities are decent. It has a leisure centre, pool, arcade and cinema - which I was impressed at but the decor is faded, wallpaper peeling and the windows in the room are ill-fitting. Having a shower was like standing in a wind tunnel in our room.

I would go back, if I was staying for a short while and had plans out of the hotel as it was fairly clean and had everything we needed, but please dont expect much as you wont get it.

When we arrived at reception I did wonder what was in store. Well, don't expect five star, but do expect extremely helpful staff, nice clean pool, (despite what others say), great steam room and sauna. Ok, so it could do with a lick of paint, and the furniture is outdated, but you get what you pay for.

Our 8 year old grandson thought he would end up in Narnia when he went into the wardrobe.

We went there for two nights and took two of our grandchildren, they loved it. They were in the pool for ages, they loved the magic show and the puppet show. The room was enourmous. The organisation of feeding so many people at breakfast is to be commended.

We love five star and we love to travel; would we go back? You bet!!!!!!

Room Tip: Room 358, massive, great sea view.

what a dirty untidy dump of a hotel. Furniture shockingly falling to bits, mattress as old as the Ark, towels small grey and thread bare and their "executive"room no better, Jaccizzi bath that didnt work. Pots left in the corridors for days as well as food. We reported a leak in the ceining that was making the carpet slippy, NO wet floor signs were put up, NOTHING to try and catch the water coming through, workmen came the next day, no one cleared the mess they left after they had to break down some of the very wet ceiling, rubble left on floor for people to trip on. Food absolutly discgusting, staff putting out bread rolls with a serviette, dropped serviette on floor, picked it up and continued using it to put bread rolls out. When questioned if she had done even basic food hygiene course she just laughed and said she hadnt realised what she was doing. Staff banged food down in front of you. No smiles from any of the staff, Things so bad when we complained and tried to move to sister hotes, no room left as that many other people had complained and left before us. Swimming pool with no attendants even when children using the pool. No safety ring or pole if anyone got into any difficulties. We put together a letter advising head office if what we had complained to manager about still havent had a reply 3 months later and we know it arrived as we posted it first class recorded delivery. This is a shocking place to stay, to be avoided at all costs.!!!!

Room Tip: dont think there are any good rooms the ones they offered to move us to were worse than the original...
