“Needs a huge refurb”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 31, 2012 via mobile

Stayed here 15yrs ago, but didn't think, the decor would still be the same!!!! Needs a MAJOR refurb! Some members of staff really need serious customer service training! Thank god for Deputy Manager Mike, who really helped us immensely with our room change and other issues!!! Thanks Mike:-)
Only thing I liked was the Shower, Food, and the spa facilities, although the Swimming Pool was coooooooooold
It's such a shame, as the location was fabulous

i stayed at this hotel last year for the illumintations on a coach trip , the hotel was okay but however there was only two of us and we were put in obviously more than a family room , something with a double bed and 4 singles , the staff were good but i dont think where it is , is good to be classed in blackpool it is way past the sign for bispham :L how that is like blackpool i dont know . The pool was good but the tiles were very slippery and loose some with sharp edges this is a huge danger to young children .

Room Tip: If you want something as a castle try and look more into detail dont go something fake which looks l...

We arrived in Blackpool at 12.00 noon and were told by our driver that our rooms wouldn't be ready until 3.30pm (great) the weather was awful, raining, windy and very cold. Upon arrival we were kept on the coach until the rep from the hotel came onto the coach and allocated our keys. Our room was on the fourth floor and there was 1 lift to all the floors. People were queuing up to use the lift. We found our room, and the first thing we noticed, the light was broken outside our room. There was no duvet cover on the duvet and no pillow cases. The remote control did not work the tv and there was only 4 channels to watch. Both the bedroom and bathroom window were broken and kept coming open, the wind was gale force and kept blowing the bathroom door open, and slammed shut. The bathroom was antiquated. They supplied towels, which hardly covered anything, and you ended up using 2 at a time. The evening meal was set at 6.00pm. I could not fault the food and there was plenty of choice. The service was good. The highlight of the night was a wristband which allowed you to have all your drinks for 99p after 7.30 till 11.00. We had been looking forward to seeing the illuminations but unfortunately we didn't see them, this was supposed to be an Illumination Special, £100.00 wasted, I will most definitely not be repeating this experience. Breakfast was between 7.30. and 9.00 which we had to form an orderly queue for. Again couldn't fault the food and service.

Room Tip: The rooms on the 4th floor have a view of the local factory roof

Stayed at the Norbreck on a one night National Hollidays break to see the illuminations. The day started with an annoncement from the coach driver saying the last place he wanted to go was Blackpool the only other words he muttered was the time we had to be back on the coach after a break and the time we would be picked up the following day. National use this hotel on a regular basis so hotel should be more organised. On arrival everone qued up at rec for 30mins while the one receptionist told everyone indervidually that keys would not be available for another hour and a half. More coaches arrived people qued and individually told the same. Why could they not have made one announcement to everyone to save us from queing all that time. We then qued again to collect our keys, on arrival at room dicovered no towels so qued for another 20 mins at rec to ask for towels only to be told they were on there way! Other people were queing for the same reason also some people didn't have rooms or rooms that smelt of cigarette smoke. We were lucky we got table in dining room and food was reasonable, people had to clear tables, same at breakfast time.Altogether totally disorganised. Not going back!

Just come back from dance weekend at this hotel. Have used it before about 12 months ago. Can't say that I will be going again in the near future! Food was good although there was far too much queueing at meal times. This is a very big hotel with 480 rooms I think. The Staff did their best but there was just not enough of them to cope. Linen in bedrooms was clean and there was plenty of hotel water. The whole hotel is in desperate need of some money spending on it. Public toilets very scruffy - a door hanging off one toilet. I know it's the end of the season but not good enough. The whole place is dated and needs decorating and cleaning.

Room Tip: Don't go!

Misleading advertising for this hotel (does not live up to expectations of advertising).
Old style (1950/60) accommodation (and nightly entertainment) which by today’s standards is closer to a backpacker hotel.
Insufficient staff to handle large registrations when buses arrive (in multiples) resulted in a 45 minute wait to just register.
Sprawling complex set over 4-5 buildings all in need of large scale renovation (replacement?).

In comparison the “Best Exotic Marigold Hotel” would be a better option.

Room Tip: There is no such thing as a "good" room in this sprawling complex !!
