For a Britannia hotel this is a very poor 2 star but with excellent staff who are clearly let down by the Britannia label and .... wait for it... the clientele.
On arrival at the hotel at 12.30 at night first impression wasn't great and first reactionwas I;m not staying here! The entrance area was full of drunk stags who offered us a drink and a s$$g .I had asked for a non smoker twin on a low floor as my sister cant go in a lift due to claustrophobia. We waited to check in behind a member of a hen party who wasvery drunk and demanding a cab,
We found our room on the first floor more by luck than directions. We struggled BIG time to get the card key to work and after about the 15th time managed to open the room, to be hit by a waft of smoke. The room at a glance although small and cramped looked clean enough but it reeked of smoke. We went back to reception and asked for another room. We were given a double on the ground floor.
To get to it we had to go through the public area where the toilets were- disgraceful.... toilet roll all over the place, doors wide open. the smell of pee was overbearing. Loads of kids including toddlers running around - bearing in mind the time it was now 1AM where were the...For a Britannia hotel this is a very poor 2 star but with excellent staff who are clearly let down by the Britannia label and .... wait for it... the clientele.

The second room again at first glance appeared clean and by this time and after a 6 hour train journey we just wanted to sleep.
Had a god look round in the morning- YUCK! Bathroom wasn't filthy but was definitely not clean. The towels were grey, threadbare and smelt burnt and the bedroom carpet upon inspection was really grubby.
The breakfast was a free for all but was edible. We thanked the chef when he filled one of the containers - you would have thought we were speaking in a foreign tongue- he was so shocked that somebody actually said thank you.
To be fair the hotel had 2 conventions going on- one was a dance competitin and the other a games convention so it was full to capacity. The staff we encounted were very helpful and apologetic but are seriously let down by the people who stay there.
If you want somewhere cheap, full of drunks and parents who dont care that their kids are running riot this is the place for you.
If you want somehere clean and quiet with nice rooms- forget .
It is also a little way out of town but the trams cost £2 each way and the stop is right outside.
Taxi to Blackpool North station is £8.
Good Tip- Make sure you ask for a room with a window as believe it or not some of them dont have...More
