The place is filthy with cobwebs hanging from the ceiling lights. The restaurant looked ok so we booked an evening meal but weren't informed that it was a self service bun-fight. The food was atrocious and when we asked a member of staff if we could order a bottle of wine we were told to go to the bar. I didn't bother as I'd seen the long queue for drinks on our way into the 'canteen' The barman was actually very helpful when we did visit the bar and I made sure that I 'doubled up' rather than having to keep returning to the queue. He recommended an excellent Italian restaurant in Bispham called La Piazza which we visited the following night and was as good as we'd been told.
The main reasons for selecting the Savoy were the car parking, which turned out to be very limited, and the evening entertainment which turned out to be the elderly children's entertainer staying on and warbling to a backing track of 50's rubbish which nobody was listening to. I believe that Britannia Hotels who operate this establishment are not concerned about the individual visitor's experience as they seem to have a steady flow of coach trips to fill the dump.More
