“Budget”

Booked this hotel only a few days prior. The original price would have been enough to put us off but as it was reduced, we decided to give it a go.

Plus points:

Public areas are large
Free parking and nearby streets without rescrictions.
Free wifi

Minus points:

Debit and credit card charge to pay for your stay
Tiny lift to service over 160 rooms
Windows in room were frosted and had torn nets.
Toilet took 20 mins to fill up
Tv was really old and only showed a few channels which were quite snowy.

If we go with high expectations then you may be disappointed however if you are realistic and are mindful of you get what you pay for, you will be fine.

I have just returned from a 2 night stay at The Savoy, Blackpool. First impressions were good..large,imposing and grand looking hotel. Appearances can be deceptive! There must have been hundreds of rooms, but only one tiny lift available which could only hold a maximum of 3 people, and even the staff had to use it. There was a permanent queue waiting for it! There were a number of wheelchair users there,so that meant these people had to wait ages as well! Our room was on the 4th floor(had to walk from 3rd floor lift each time) and it was so small. The "view" was over a dirty car park, and the window was filthy. The lager in the bar was expensive, flat and tasteless.Meal times were badly organised.Very under staffed.Dishes piled up on the tables.Luckily, the weather was good,so the weekend wasn't a complete washout!

Room Tip: Get a ground floor room, as there is nearly always a queue for the lift!

I would not even rate the Savoy Hotel, Blackpool a 2 star, personally I would give it a NIL rating.

Rooms: No wardrobe or cupboard space to hang clothes.
Window latches all broken unable to open windows; windows were extremely dirty could hardly see out of them to view the sea from our seaview room.

Glasses on tablet at meals times were extremely dirty; on more than four occasions I had to ask for a clean glass.

Staff; On arrival and after seeing our room we asked the Manager for an upgraded room and was willing to pay the extra; we were told by the manager that our room was an upgraded room and he could show us worse rooms.

Staff were extremely unhelpful always on the defensive, never apologised when things were wrong even when it was obvious that it was the holtel's fault; when we had no hot water one morning because the boiler had gone wrong.

I would never stay at this hotel again or any of the other hotels in the same chain and would not definitely recommend it to anybody else. The hotel was disgusting.

When I found that the copach tour was based at the Savoy, Blackpool I dreaded the trip having read the reviews, however the proof of the pudding is in the eating and I was very pleasantly surprised.
On arrival we were given room 251, a room whose window overlooked the inner courtyard, though as the window was frosted glass saw little of it., There were two single beds, see photo at foot of report, theywere clean, the linen was spotless and fresh, though not new. The bathrom( see also picture) was clean and apart from the far corner of the bath, -difficult to reach, free from mould ( see picture also). The TV though old worked perfectly and the carpet was clean. Overall very satisfactory.
Dinner duringthe week was at 7.30pm, there was a choice of two starters, three mains and at least two sweets. All were well cooked and apetising. Breakfast at 7.30 comprised of juice, cereals, continental style or full english, followed by bread and butter with jam, marmalade or toast with tea and conffee. It was self service as was dinner. The tables wre laid out nicely.Overall very nice indeed apart from the day we left,w hen there was no bread and butter, only rolls.
There was entertainment comprising a compere and keyboard in the evening from 8.00, a trfle dated but it was free..
Now you all want the bad side I suppose, well the lift took only three people at a time, which meant there were queues, morning and evening and we had trouble with the electronic card for the door lock. Nothing serious however and we both enjoyed our stay there.

Room Tip: Go for room 251

Plus side: friendly staff on arrival, cleaning staff were happy too help, breakfast staff very busy with no plates and glasses but still had time to find me something when asked, tram stop right outside which is great and the hotel has a car park.(limited spaces)
The down side,we do a lot of travelling staying in around 60 diff hotels a year in a cross section of standards. Our room was ok as had worse abroad but even a member of staff went oh! When asking what room we were in.room was dated, stained ,giant vent pipes not boxed in,sealed windows n kitchen extractor outside.we paid for sat n sun stay,on sun morn received a discounted letter under door for sun night stay half what we paid,it's a shame as if hotel was empty a better room would of been nice for the two night stay,we had a great time in Blackpool and would stay here again if could have better room.

Although we had written confirmation booking a family seaview room we were given a disgustingly shabby room at tthe back of the (sorry I can't call it a hotel) building. The overworked staff would not offer even sympathetic help and left us stranded, a very disgusting way to treat customers. DO NOT USE THIS HOTEL IS MY ADVICE

Room Tip: Go to Lytham St Annes
