“A cheap and cheerful one night stay”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 29, 2012

What can you expect when paying £12.50 per person per night for bed & breakfast - not very much I would say - but we were pleasantly surprised. Our initial impressions were good, despite reviews on here, with a very friendly receptionist and a lovely entrance/lobby area and yes the upper corridors were a little dated but the rooms were VERY spacious if a little dated as well. A large bathroom with bath and shower was more than acceptable and the two other spaces (one occupied with a single bed and wardrobe the other with a double bed and television) were pleasant enough if extremely warm. No problems with the quality of the bed or bedding were found. The breakfast was basic but adequate with our only real complaint being the lengthy wait at the poorly stocked hotel bar. Staffed by the night porter we found it increasingly hard and harder to get a drink as the night wore on and were often mischarged as the said nightporter was definitely overworked.......
Would we go again for £12.50 including breakfast and parking - of course we would. This is Blackpool after all not Cannes.

We stayed at the Savoy for one night whilst attending a concert at the Opera House. The hotel is very dated and tired and would require a lot of money spent on it to bring it up to date. The beds were very uncomfortable and hard. The service left a lot to be desired. When we went to breakfast the following morning there was a notice saying 'please wait to be seated', but no staff were available to seat us. There were no teaspoons on the tables and my wife had to go and ask for some. The reception staff were however very polite and helpful. All in all the 3 of us would not stay here again although it was a very cheap stay. ( I suppose you get what you pay for.)

Stayed here last night and yes the hotel is in need of updating but we got exactly what we paid for. The reception staff were friendly ,the breakfast had plenty of choice either a cooked breakfast or continental ,cereals etc . we wanted a cheap deal for one night for a works christmas party and didnt have time to go inspecting everything and as for old folks home there was a mixed age group at breakfast even children . i didnt pay for 5* and perfectly happy with what i got ,especially the view .

The hotel is beautiful building that requires alot of work to bring it up to date. The whole place is tired and old, as is most of the people who stayed there. It was, however, very reasonably prices so if you are looking for a mega cheap deal then this might be what you are looking for. If you want clean, well furnished rooms, with efficient service stay away until they make it better.

Bedroom extremely rundown, mattress really worn out and uncomfortable. Decor scruffy and outdated giving it a dirty appearance. Chairs in lounge/bar area slashed and badly stained. The person behind the bar did not know what mulled wine was..so we had a bottle of wine ,but when we complained that it was horrible we were not offered any other... after paying £12 for it!
Food not too bad so that was a compensation... but thankfully we only booked for 2 night stay!

Went here for my 60 Birthday, which is one I will never forget. It was meant to be a nostalgic trip as I together with my 2 brothers were born one in Blackpool and 2 Fleetwood. We will never be returning, the hotel was disgusting, filthy to the extent that the mattress had to be changed in my room and my daughter had to change rooms due to dirty bed linnen. The place was understaffed, there were stains everywhere in the public areas, food defies description, how this place has passed health and safety I will never know. I could not in a million years recommend it to anyone if we had not already paid in advance I would not have stepped foot in the place.
