We booked this on the strength that it was totally accesible with cabaret and full board, it also seemed a good deal. firstly the hotel is largely wheelchair accessable however my room was not. There was a step into the bathroom with torn lino which consituted a trip hazard(there seemed to be no colour contrast for visual impairment anywhere) there was no turning space for a wheelchair, and so I had to keep bumping down the step backwards.
the shower was a fixed head so that I could not have used it myself. The shower itself was not controlled (either freezing or scalding) and was therefore no good for paralysed skin There seemed to be no call button or pull cord in the bathroom. In the bedroom the beds were very old and the double divan was all broken underneath there were also to0 many beds in the room therefore once again not enough room for a manual wheelchair.
The emergency call button was on oneside of the room and would be inaccessable uless you were lying on that particular bed.

The bedding was awful and whilst I understand the issue of incontinence is it really nessecary to sleep ontop of a plastic sheet ontop of a thick bed protector ontop of a plastic matress. I did not wet myself but we sweat and sweat some more.
The beds were not changed and if you wanted them changed it cost extra and so we lay in sweaty beds.

The lift took ages and seemed on the point of breaking down.Over all the decor is faded chipped and gives a run down appearance. In the restraunt service is rushed and and not very friendly whith the food being rather bland and the portions small.

The entertainment was of a standard that a Darby and Joan club 30 years ago would have loved but apart from one singer it seemed amaturish and somewhat pathetic )The management seem to live in a land where disabled people should be grateful for what they get and also seem to have this patronising attitude treating people like kids. For example in a room full of mature adults the prize for one of the raffles was a cuddly toy (and we were told that this was a special prize ha! ha!.

Trips were organised by the hotel which were expensive and not long enough If you can use public transport or taxis Do this instead..

The hotel locks its doors at 10.00pm and so if you are going to a show or other entertainment you have to ring a bell (which did not work) or bang on a window, on the saturday night no one came after 20 minutes of knocking. however worryingly I was able to put my hand inside the door and push open a supposedly locked door, even more worrying is the fact that guests are encouraged to leave their numbered and named keys in an ulocked cardboard?? box on the full view of the door and ontop of the desk

If anyone has incontinence or other care issues beware of hidden cost. The hotel charges for the disposal of clinical waste (bags behind reception) All equipment is for hire Hoists etc and looks overpriced.

There seems to be no thought to sensory impairment or hidden disability and whilst the hotel claimed to meet dietary needs we did hear people being told on several occassions that things had run out or they were not available.

in summing up if you are young or young at heart, want good service, good entertainment and a great time don't go here. These places may have their niche in a market which does not cater well for people with severe impairments but it needs to be run properly and to give value for money the Bond falls short of this.
My advice is shop around
P.S.in the end we had a good time but this was mostly because we went out

Myself and a lady who i support went for the ELVIS week in march. From the moment we boarded the bus lady had a fantastic time.where she made lots of new friends and spent her 5 days their just having fun with everyone and is still talking about it now.We found everyone to be very friendly including management, staff and artists. The meals were basic but edible.the thing i most noticed was everybody lost their inhbitions when they were up dancing i include carers as well as service users in this. everyone was just concerned with having a good time.It wasnt 5 star accommodation but we did not pay 5 star accommodation prices. but what we did pay for we got. Certainly good value for money .I have supported children and adults with physical and learning disabilites for 20 years and have never been anywhere on holiday where everyone was treated as an equal. Both myself and the lady who i support will certainly and look foward to going back in the very near future and will reccomend this hotel to everyone who supports adults or children with both physical and learning disablities if only for the equipment that is on hand .Lastley i would like to thank everyone at the bond for making our stay a very pleasurable experience for both of us.Looking forward to are next vist Trish and Julie

Hi to everyone who has stayed at the Bond Hotel, just been reading some of the other reviews and want to make my point.
have stayed at the Bond quite a few times and have always had a particularly good stay at the hotel, Staff are great and are always ready to listen to you. Facillities are excellent, some management changes since the summer but it will settle back in.
No problems with the food, if you don't like the menu tell them and they will make you something else.
Staff have a lot more to put up with than in a regular hotel and people may like to remember this when running them down. especially care providers like ourselves.

arrived and all seemed ok- rooms average but cold and not very clean,
dinner was like a pantomime- manager didnt know what he was doing- our waiter was trying his best and tried to chat to us but he kept being called away to sort other problems out. He was about the only saving grace this place had and all he could do was appologise for the food- cold tasteless bland not enough of it and very poor. Was told eat it or go hungry by the manager!!!!!!!
breakfast was as bad never seen eggs that are like the rubber fake ones you can by in blackpool but there at the bond in full life!
cold toast and tinned tomatoes- well tinned tomato juice will little tomato- bacon like wafers and sausage 30 mins to long in the oven.
The place should be re named faulty towers- mind you faulty towers was funny- this place is just a total rip off- pack um in and get um out springs to mind with crap being passed off as 'good home cooking' and the biggest amount of tack forced on us to but at every opportunity.

On the tuesday night- we were told there were an extra number of people coming for tea and to bare with them- the whole of the bar and lounge area was laid up around our group as we waited for our tea in the restaurant and total chaos then reigned. We all felt so sorry for the waiting staff who were rushing about trying to get the pass off for food to us- did i mention we never got an appology from the reception when we went to complain or anything from the management who seemed more interested in propping the bar up all night.

|My recommendation- SAVE YOUR MONEY AND DO NOT GO TO THE BOBD
