“Dark Rooms”
Reviewed March 15, 2013

I spent a short break here with my sister, and found it very nice indeed, the outside pool was lovely and warm and the indoor pool was beautiful. Quite a good location far enough away from the hustle and bustle of town, but close enough to get into town.
Now the bad points, rooms are very dark, toilet was broke when we arrived, we left a note for the cleaner and it was still broke when we left 4 days later, also on the note for the cleaner (left at 7.30am) we asked for more pillows, at 9pm we asked in reception for more pillows, at 9,30pm we asked if we were getting pillows, at 11pm a porter knock on our bedroom door and woke me up to ask if we still wanted the pillows when I said yes he said I'll go and get you some. At 11.30pm the pillows finally arrived. Breakfast was nice but not upto the standard it has been in previous visits and I'm still not sure where the £6m refurb is.

Lovely hotel, very clean and quite posh! Stayed in March with a group of friends on a spa weekend. I cannot praise the staff enough at this hotel, friendly, polite, welcoming all resulting in making you feel very valued as a customer!

The Village hotel is a great place to focus and relax whilst on the driving course. It has fantastic facilities, we just love the pools and the classes at the gym. Excellent driving course with Learndrive who arrange the hotel accommodation for you.

V. good place to stay.

Room Tip: Consider upper deck? people say is worth it for that bit extra. Enjoy a peaceful night sleep before...

Was very dubious about going to this hotel after having read SO MANY bad reviews. I am happy to say that my husband and i had a pleasant stay. I did up grade to an upper deck room before i arrived as i wanted to ensure a quiet night a better facilities. I did pay an extra £20 per night but i think it was worth it, especially after i had asked a cleaner what were the differences between the basic and an upgraded room. I also spoke to 2 of the bar staff and asked if they had read the bad reviews on trip adviser. They had and both said that there had been "issues" when the hotel was full to capacity, but that they were working to overcome them. I can imagine that some of the reviews will be accurate when this is the case. However our weekend stay on Friday & Saturday was great. We used the pool and the gym which were superb. I would not like to come during school holidays as the pool would be too busy especially as some areas are roped off for swimming lessons. We ate once in the Victory bar and the food was good, but before i did i asked the other guests who were eating what the food was like - all agreed it was fine. Two guests i spoke to said they were disappointed with the Italian restaurant , which still confirms what other reviews have said, we did not eat there.
The Victory bar is like a very noisy male golfers dominated sports bar with all TV screens showing sport. We did not mind this as we both like sport, but i can imagine that it would not suit all guests. The hotel could benefit from a quieter bar are somewhere else. The main entrance is very busy as it is used by all the health club members which means the double doors are often open all the time and the entrance is cold. They need their own entrance and exit. Our room was ready at 2pm, and it was very comfotable and quiet, the staff were very helpfull. WE would return at some future date but make sure its not during school holidays - the staff say its extemely busy with children. I would say that it can be a bit hit and miss with the kind of service etc that you get and i wouldn't want the standard room. All said we enjoyed our weekend and would return

The best thing about this hotel is its friendly and helpful staff who were super. Our bedroom was comfortable with everything you expect for a good stay including a big flat screen television, hairdryer and iron and ironing board in the room. The bed was excellent and we slept very well. We had a wet room bathroom with a good powerful shower. The room was very clean as were the public areas.
What let the hotel down badly was the catering. First problem was that both at dinner and breakfast the restaurant was running with minimal staffing who couldn't provide an efficient service. Our package included a carvery meal which was poor. The soup was over seasoned with so much salt that it was unpleasant. The carvery vegetables were horrible including watery sauce on the cauliflower cheese, tired broccoli and overdone but not crispy roast potatoes. The Carvery was busy which may speak volumes about the general standard of catering in Blackpool.
Such a shame that what is potentially a very good hotel with a super group of staff and well equipped rooms is let down by second rate catering. If you do stay here avoid the Carvery at all costs.
