“Cheap rate for b & b Restaurant Poor”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 7, 2013 via mobile

Came to see the new promenade. In Blackpool. Stayed here around 5 years ago. Got a good rate for night with breakfast. The restaurant changed to an Italian 2 years ago. Well what can I say. Manageress showed us to table for 2. Smoked salmon had no lemon. Fries were hard. They did change. Asked for drinks twice, came second request. Asked for coffee with cream, came with milk Asked for double espresso, came with no spoon or sugar. The problem, not enough staff and The Manageress did not help out. Apart from showing people to the table we never saw her. The hotel does not order papers Trouble is customer service is non existence now.
There was a wedding on, we could here disco on second floor .

Played on the excellent 18 hole golf course , attached to the hotel. Excellent condition, lots of water hazards, greens in fantastic condition for an early February saturday. Played with two members, not previously met, they were wonderful playing partners and the welcome was warm from everyone I met at the club. Society or holiday golfers you will enjoy this course, I certainly did

Wonderful stay at the ex De Vere Hotel in Blackpool. Our room overlooked the 18th hole which pleased my golf mad husband somewhat! The hotel has fantastic facilities and the leisure club is brilliant. I would recommend a dip in the outdoor swimming pool too! Just 2 or 3 strides from the door to the pool and then sheer heated bliss!
I think we were in one of the recently re-furbished rooms which was superbly decorated in dark wood with lovely furniture and lamps, it had a Malmaison feel to it. Breakfast was good and plentiful.
Only 3 points I would make and they are that the bathroom was tiny and felt claustrophobic, the room did not have a central light so was quite dark and the bar prices are typical hotel priced - i.e. high! Other than that our stay was pleasant

Room Tip: Ask for an upgrade as the suites are gorgeous and the one we have stayed in before was at the front...

We arrived at the busy hotel on a Saturday afternoon. Check-in took a while but the reception staff were working at their best and were polite and friendly.

The hotel rooms are very nicely furnished, clean and comfortable. Our room had an interconnecting door with the adjacent room, which locked from either side.

We had a coffee in reception which is busy with guests relaxing and chatting.

I had a lovely bath before retiring and was looking forward to a good night's sleep. Unfortunately my sleep was badly disturbed. The guest in the adjoining room snored and the sound carried so easily between the adjacent rooms. His snoring wasn't a regular rhythm but a bad struggling-for-breath type which frequently changed pitch and intensity. The noise pervaded my dreams resulting in nightmares before I woke. This continued throughout the night until finally at 5am I abandoned all efforts for a good nights sleep and wrote this review.

I have stayed at this hotel several times now and feel i should let it be known how wonderful it is to stay here if your are visiting Blackpool for any reason business or pleasure, It is situated just 10 minutes from the center of town and easy to find next to the zoo and model village and golf course it has plenty of parking spaces and sits in lovely grounds, On entry to the hotel you will find a nice reception area with a Starbucks coffee unit There is also a fabulous spa/gym with a large swimming pool and jacuzzi, The bedrooms are well fitted out with comfy beds and plasma televisions, There is also a good choice of places to eat from the Italian restaurant to the bar/grill,I have always found the staff very friendly and helpful and strongly recommend you give this hotel a visit next time you go to Blackpool,

Stayed here mid week January with Partner, we bought the Groupon deal for 2 nights which included a meal.
Check in was quick and easy, front of house staff were lovely and polite. Were told the meal we had purchased would be in the Buca De Beppe restaurant- we were a little disappointed having read bad reviews on here of the restaurant.
We were given a room on the upper deck. Room was clean and spacious, had everything we needed. Decor was a little dark but it was to our taste so we didn't mind!
Facilities were brilliant, went for a swim when we were there and the pool area was brilliant and clean, along with changing facilities (although there are only 1 or 2 private cubicles to change in if you wish to). The Victory pub is also nice, food was nice but a little overpriced.
Breakfast was nice, good choice of things to eat.
We booked our table for 7pm in the restaurant on our first night, and when we went down, the waitress who greeted us was very polite and showed us to our table......good start.....but then it went down hill from there. The starters took about half an hour to arrive, and when they did, they were both poor quality :-( the plates were then left in front of us for an hour and 15 minutes. We weren't asked if we wanted any more drinks during our wait, so my partner went to the bar. The waitress said she would bring them over. Fifteen minutes later and there was still nothing. My partner went to the bar again and she said, again, that she would bring them over (bearing in mind the restaurant wasn't busy). She eventually brought us some more drinks but didn't clear away the starter plates??? Our main courses eventually got brought to us at 8.45........they had obviously been sat in the oven to be kept warm as the sauce on our pasta had all dried up and the pasta had gone hard. The standard of food was really bad. We couldn't eat it and decided to leave without even trying dessert. We asked if anything could be knocked off the bill but were told due to it being a deal, we couldn't. They apologised and said they were short staffed. My partner wasn't happy as i was six months pregnant and hadn't eaten a proper meal- we resorted to going getting pot noodles from Tesco Express down the road as it was too late to go anywhere else.
We never complain, but we were so unhappy with the standard of food and the service in the restaurant that we sent an e-mail to Village explaining what had happened. Today i recieved a reply from the manager apologising for the bad experience, and offered us a complimentary meal in the Buca De Beppe restaurant......unfortunately we won't be taking them up on this offer as it was that bad, but i am grateful for the reply and apology.
The hotel itself is brilliant, it's just a shame that this restaurant lets it down. We have given the hotel a rating of "very good" but this purely for the hotel- not the restaurant. We won't be returning here again due to the bad experience in the restaurant :-(
