Reviewed December 4, 2012

We were greeted with the famous Thai smile. The service was excellent and friendly. The food not only was it a pleasure to our taste buds, it very pleasing to the eye. We would say that the food is very much good value for money. All in all , we would recormend Boonnak Thai to everyone.

“Beware of pre-paying for vouchers”
Reviewed December 1, 2012

Having gone here twice with a voucher that we`d already pre-purchased, we found that on both occasions the staff attempted to fob us off with less than we had paid for. On our first visit we recieved small glasses of wine instead of large, and we ordered two seabass and instead were given salmon.
As we had already purchased a second voucher for four people to celebrate my daughter`s 18th birthday, we went a second time in the hope that we`d have a different experience. That night one of our group was ill so we asked if we could take theirs "to go". The rest of us orderdered our meals, including three salad starters. Twenty minutes after we had ordered, we were told that we couldn`t have the salads. This was nowhere in the terms of our voucher, and we had already waited a significant time for our food. We were also told that they wouldn`t give us the food for our absent party member. We said in that case, just bring it all together and we`ll eat it, and then they suddenly changed their minds and conceded that they would give it to us to take away.

Two of the staff that served us were lovely and very helpful, and the food when it eventually arrived was very nice. On the basis of that, I was going to chalk our visit up to experience, but when we looked at the prawn and papaya salad that we took away, it was just a pile of shredded cabbage with three prawns and a slice of tomato; no papaya in sight and clearly just leftover garnish. I find that to be quite a low trick, and one that proves that as long as they already have your money, they will cut corners and claw back profit wherever they can.

When looking at the less favourable reviews on here, there are a significant few that have stated that their meal was on a voucher or offer. so I would strongly advise against paying up front with this restaurant.

We will definitely not be returning.

“A mixed bag”
Reviewed December 1, 2012

Four of us went for an evening meal. The starters were fine with a carved turnip decorating the plate. The red and green curries we had for the main course were good but one of our party had a rather bland dish which should have been spicy. The fourh member ordered a chicken dish with black and straw mushrooms. When it came it had just button mushrooms. When questionned the waitress said that straw mushrooms were difficult to come by. Why include them the write-up inthe menu? We are unlikely to go again
