“Top Quality - Fantastic hosts”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 9, 2011

After knocking on the door after 30 hours of flying & an hour & a bit train ride from Manchester, it was nice to be greeted by a happy & welcoming host, Peter. Room was fantastic. Bright colours, clean, tidy, solid furniture, clean bathroom with fluffy white towels. Felt very relaxing & comfortable.
Peter & Wayne are the perfect hosts. Very friendly, helpful & easy to approach if you need anything. Keen eye for details. After having some herbal teas for breakfast, I find some in the tea & coffee tray in my room after it had been serviced. Wayne is a great cook. Breakfasts were great & the dinners were very satisfying. Top quality, fresh ingredients.
Great location! 5-10 minute walk from Blackpool North train station, 5 - 10 minutes from the hotel to city centre, around the corner from the promenade & North Pier, but in a quiet street so you dont get kept awake by the hustle & bustle.
Support these guys, they deserve it! Greg, Australia, August 2011

Lovely b and b. Very clean and modern. Lovely breakfast and hosts were great. The street it is on looks a little rough but the b and b more than makes up for this. Would stay here again on my next visit. Highly recommend.

My partner and I are frequent visitors to Blackpool and decided we wanted to stay at the North end pier as opposed to the South for a change of scenery. We were dubious as have always stayed at the same fantastic B+B and know what a minefield it is picking the right one. With over 800 to choose from we found Lawrence Guest House on here and based on the reviews, booked for a weekend. .. We could not have picked better!

Peter and Wayne were extremely helpful before we had even arrived. We wanted to eat at the B+B the first night as had traveled straight from work. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they had a fantastic meal ready for us (more on that later) at our stipulated time.

Upon arrival a very bubbly Peter met us at the door and showed us the the Sandiacre suite. It's difficult to sum up how beautiful and homely the room was. The name reflects the Seaside theme that runs through the room. Lots of little trinkets (a cute little lighthouse on the shelf, for me was the highlight) complimented the cool blue decor.

The bed was extremely comfortable, great power shower with piping hot water, excellent choice of tea and coffee making facilities which included Galaxy hot chocolate! There was also a 2 seater sofa and snazzy little TV. Plenty of hangers too. Another of those extra touches was chocolate mints on the pillow. All of this adds up to a B+B that stands head and shoulders above it's competitors and easily outdoes the hotels too.

Now back to that food. Peter's partner Wayne is the chef and to say the guy can cook is an understatement! We plumped for homemade spicy lamb burgers wih homemade chips. As Wayne said "Like your Mum used to make". He was spot on - this is home cooked comfort food at it's very best. It came with a lovely fresh salad on the side. And the price - £5.95! You can barely buy a starter in a restaurant for that nowadays and this food puts many of Blackpool's eateries in the shade. The food was so good we rounded it off with syrup sponge pudding and a fresh fruit salad - the latter being so colossal I most certainly got my 5 a day! Both were equally delicious - so much so we ate here the second night too. For my partner home-made fish pie with parsley sauce and for me a homemade beefburger with cheese and bacon with more of those heavenly chips. Also worth a mention is the breakfast... This is sourced from local producers, so you get a proper english Butcher's sausage and bacon - delicious.

After dinner the first night we enjoyed a couple of pints at the bar chatting to the owners and their friend who was visiting for the weekend. A pint of lager was only £2.70 and Guinness just £3 - very good value.

To sum up, Peter and Wayne do not just have a B+B. Their warm rapport make you feel like you are a part of their home. A home which we are very glad to have visited and cannot wait to do so again.

Thank you both for making our weekend such an enjoyable one.

Room Tip: It's worth phoning the B+B direct to gat the room you want and they will cater for your needs.

This has got to be the best hotel in Blackpool. I have stayed here a few times now and brought some friends for their first trip last weekend and they couldnt believe the standard.

Rooms immaculate, food fresh home cooked and value for money, service amazing.

If you want good home cooking in a friendly, nothing is too much trouble way, stay at the Larence House Hotel. The rooms were spotlessly clean, the whole trip was excellant value for money. I wouldn't think of staying anywhere else in Blackpool when we go back.
