“mixed feelings!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 13, 2013

Just back from a 4 day break at the Royal Seabank and have mixed feelings about it. Good points are: Staff very friendly, Vocalists/Comedians of good standard, Good location of hotel , Bar prices reasonable, Bad points:stairs leading to everywhere - hotel was like a maze, not suitable for people with mobility problems, food portion size not that great and some portions got smaller as week progressed, my room had very small tv (not 22" in every room as described on hotel website), daily housekeeping involved emptying bin and throwing duvet over bed (no straightening of sheets, wipe down of sink etc..), entertainment consisted of bingo and vocalists/comedian - no karaoke, quiz, disco as also stated on website. Bathroom very narrow in parents room, not much room to move and sink very small. Best part of the stay was the compere Aideen - she was hilarious and definitely made the evening entertainment.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of your stay with us.

I am disappointed to read that certain aspects of your stay were more enjoyable than others, it is always a shame to receive some negative comments after a guest has left as this gives us no opportunity to deal with a problem.

Rooms are serviced on a daily basis, any issues with regards to housekeeping may be reported directly to reception where we will be more than happy to report any issues and ensure that there is no repeat.

I am sorry to read that you found the hotel layout confusing, adequate signage is clearly visible throughout the hotel as well as two lifts accommodating both sides of the hotel. Staff are also on hand should you need further directions.

With regards to your complaint about portion sizes, our Restaurant Supervisor is always on hand should you have any issues or require larger portions. All you have to do is ask.

We look forward to welcoming you back in the future, and should you have any issues please don't hesitate to speak to a member of staff. We are all here to ensure that you enjoy your holiday.

Kind Regards

Kelly Percival

I wouldn't recommend this hotel at all. To be quite honest I don't have anything good to say about it. Food was limited and was horrid, the hair we found in some of it didn't help matters. The hotel itself is very dated and is not clean at all, in fact people in it were catching Norovirus! So filthy and grubby. Quite a few folk went home early it was that bad. Evening entertainment couldn't have been any worse. Please don't go here. One word for it, brutal.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of your stay with us.

I would firstly like to reply to your comments with regards to lack of menu choice. We currently have 3 choice of starters, 5 choices of main and 4 choices for desserts also alternatives are available should there be nothing to your liking on the menu. Our restaurant staff are always on hand, all you need do is ask.

As you may be aware Norovirus has been widespread throughout the UK this year, with over one million people having been affected. The Royal Seabank Hotel has been in consultation with Environmental Health and had all the correct procedures in place to try to prevent the virus from spreading. We continue to deep clean the hotel on a daily basis, which includes fumigating public areas.

We are currently in the process of renovating guest bedrooms at the moment, with Blackpool Promotions investing heavily into this project. Whilst we are aware certain rooms are dated, the rooms are cleaned to the highest standards and room inspections are carried out regularly and I find some of your comments unfair however I understand that you are obviously frustrated that your stay was affected.

Please feel free to contact me directly or Blackpool Promotions should you wish to discuss this matter further.

Kind Regards

Kelly Percival

The hotel was in need of some serious decoration. I found 2 beetles and a fly in my room when i arrived. Meals were ok, very small portions(3 bits of chicken in a curry)very poor value for money. All waiters were very nice and helpful. Entertainment was really good, on every night.Fire alarm went off at 1.30am, very unorganized chaos in the hotel for a long while as to what was to happen, ie...false alarm, go back to room or outside.Quite alot pf people smoking in their rooms and shouldn't have been, hotel didn't do anything about it, hence the smell of smoke around the hotel most the time.

Room Tip: Choose a family room, even if just a couple, as rooms are quite small, and far too hot (take a fan)

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of your stay with us.

I apologise if certain aspects of your stay were more enjoyable than others.

Please be assured that I will look into your complaints, we do kindly as that any complaints are reported to a member of staff at the time. It is always a shame to receive negative feedback after a guest has departed as this gives us no opportunity to rectify matters directly.

As you may be aware we are currently in the process of renovating guest accommodation, with Blackpool Promotions investing heavily into this project. If you were to return, I am sure you would be more than happy with the improvements being undertaken.

I would also like to apologise for the inconvenience caused with regards to the fire alarm sounding in the early hours of the morning. This was caused by children tampering with the call point. The staff in place at the time have all received training and have been appointed as fire wardens, please rest assured that they dealt with the issue as quickly as possible.

Kind Regards
