“Midweek break to see the lights”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 19, 2012

You cannot find a more convenient and friendly B & B in Blackpool. There is parking to the back but this time we managed to get parked outside the front of the Hotel for free for five days. On arrival we were greeted by the owners and were made a nice cup of tea. The place is lovely and clean and the atmosphere is very fiendly. Lovely breakfast served on a morning at a reasonable time!!! The Hotel is just a short walk to the sea front upon which you find yourself near to the pleasure beach and you can be nearly the first on the trams which is useful when they are busy. We will be returning next year hopefully as we got the train to Liverpool for a day and still have more to see there.

We have stayed at the Rio Rita twice now and on both occasions our family ( including children of 6 & 8 ) have been made to feel very welcome. We have stayed in family rooms on both occasions and have found them to be very clean and spacious enough for our needs. Breakfast offered plenty of choice for all of us even though our son did choose to eat enough toast for the whole family! Hope to return soon.

I booked this break at the last minute with my husband, two children(age 9 and 12) and my parents. We were looking for something clean and near to the numerous attractions, but not so near to be disturbed by the noise. This was the perfect place, just a short walk to the sea front and the pleasure beach, which is at the south end and the very start of the illuminations. There is a tram stop and bus stop opposite the pleasure beach which takes you right along the seafront and these run into the evening, making it easy to get about. We bought a family ticket which allowed us to travel all day and night on the tram and bus for just £9.00.As for the hotel, you couldnt ask to meet a nicer couple Janice and John(and Pip the small friendly dog),they welcomed us into their home and made our stay a memorable one.Nothing was too much trouble, they even helped us unpack and pack our car.We had a beautiful cooked breckie each morning, lovely and hot and plenty of toast, cereal, juice, tea and coffee. The rooms were clean and cosy.We will definately be returning here in the new year.Thank you Janice and John.

stayed here in oct for 2 nights.
rooms were clean and comfortable. stayed in a room for 3, the size was fine, and so as shower room. breakfast was good, although bacon could have been cooked a little more, help yourself to cereal and juice, much tea/cofee and toast as you liked.
be aware that they have a small dog called pip, he is very friendly, but he is let into the lounge and if you are allergic or just do not like dogs, this is not the place for you.
i would recommend this to people.

We came to Rio Rita for a break away from reality and we are glad we chose Rio Rita. When we arrvied, Janice and John welcomed us warmly and made our stay the best it could be. Never had a bad night sleep and the rooms were very cosy and made us feel at home. When we went down for breakfast, all the other guests would stay good morning which was really nice as you wouldnt get that anywhere else. As soon as we sat down, John would always come over to ask if we would like drinks and made sure that we had everything we wanted/needed. I would recommed this hotel to anyone as its close to the sea front, never too noisy or busy and had the best hosts possible.

I booked this Hotel as my friend and I were visiting the Open Golf Championship at nearby Royal Lytham &St Annes in July. Really genuine couple who work hard to ensure a comfortable stay. Room was very clean, food excellent and hot and both John & Janice are quite knowledgeable on what to see and where to go in Blackpool, including pubs, restaurants, tourist spots and all the rides. I wish them well.

The owners, John & Janice, are both very friendly and helpful, and really made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. They also have a lovely little dog, Pip.

Breakfast is very good; a full English Breakfast with plentiful toast, cereals, tea & coffee and juice. I believe they can arrange for an evening meal (I would assume at an additional cost), although we did not take up this option.

The rooms aren't the biggest but they tick all the right boxes. They are very clean, the beds are comfortable and the bathroom had a nice shower.

The Rio Rita is located at one end of the strip, one block back from the sea front (2 minute walk away). It is very close to the South Pier and Pleasure Beach, however the Blackpool Tower, Coral Island and the majority of pubs and shops are quite a walk away. Fortunately Blackpool has a regular tram running down the sea front, so it's not really a problem either way.

It's also worth mentioning that I don't believe they take on Stag or Hen parties, which is a bonus for anybody concerned about being woken up by 10 people coming in at 4am who have been drinking all day long.

The Rio Rita is a little gem and I would recommend it to anybody considering visiting Blackpool.
